WTB: EVO8 catalytic converter

I'd like to get someone's old evo8 cat (or evo9 if they are the same size and stuff). It's 2.5" I believe, so that's what I need. The stock one, so I can pass emissions here in Texas, no need for a test pipe or anything. I am willing to wait for a good deal, so 30 bucks or so plus shipping if anyone has one taking up space in the garage.

you know you can scrap a converter out and easily get $100 out of it, im not sure who would take the time to ship something that weights 20 lbs. It would cost $30 just to ship it. im not trying to troll around just read this and figured I would give you a heads up, you might be waiting around awhile.

+1 on scrapping the cat convertor. Hornstar wants to make a buck off of some unsuspecting seller.

Lol...no, hornstar wants to make a custom 16g turbo kit and is hoping someone wants to sell their stock cat. Regardless, if by the time the build starts I don't have a seller, I'll go with the 60 dollar magnaflow cat.

Fair enough on the shipping.....that's why I said 30 bucks PLUS whatever it costs you to ship it

i have at least one maybe more evo 8 cats for sale, all with a MAX 18k miles on it, in perfect condition. that being said, 30 bucks + any sort of shipping is wayyyyy to low of a price. you will be waiting a very long time. I am not trying to be rude or discourage you in any way, I am just saying from experience.

I have some buddies with cats for sale, I will see if any of them are willing to part them out since some are in TX. if I find anything, ill make sure to let you know. best of luck with the search.

Cool cool, don't both with all this then. I saw a post from someone saying "selling stock 8 catback exhaust, I'm also including the cat, 30 bucks for the whole thing if you pick it up" I've since ordered a magnaflow high flow cat and will just get it welded up so I can pass inspection.

just to throw this in there also I scraped mine out yesterday and got $150 for it lol Pretty easy cash if you ask me.
Btw I get what you where trying to do, you figured used exhaust parts just get thrown out so why wouldnt someone just need to get rid of a cat laying around and you needed to pass inspection you figured it would be cheaper lol What people dont realize is those things are really worth some money.

so in theory- couldn't you buy magnaflow high flow cats for $60 then sell them to the junkyard for $150?

probably not, they wont have the same mass of rare metals that the stock one does. btw, where is a good place to scrap a cat? any metal yard?

OEM makes, and aftermartet makes are much different. Honeycomb vs Foil, etc. And the actual amount(weight) of the rare metals inside changes. So no, if you took a universal cat in, you would prob get 20 bucks for it.

Correct.

Call around - some places offer different pricing depending on greed.
