the only difference between the 8 and 9 boxes were the gears, right? I'm about ready to do a 5-speed swap in my IX MR, will this bolt to my ACD TC and I'll just need the associated 5-speed parts?

 

The tranny will work with ACD transfercaes, but I am not sure what you would need otherwise. And yes, the only difference to my knowledge is the gearing ratio for 1-2 and 3-4. 3-4 on the 8 is longer, and 1-2 on the 9 is longer. Something like that!
