READ THIS FIRST: The background story to this is that the motor was built by a race shop and has less than 10k on it. I don't know exact mileage on parts, but the previous owner did not drive the car on the street due to emissions. I bought the car and it immediately threw a rod through the side of the block. I broke the motor down and am convinced it is literally just bad luck and the rod randomly snapped due to fatigue or just a bad rod (was not boosting/racing when the rod went). The rest of the motor was fine, including the piston in the failed cylinder. There was no metal or trash in the oil besides what the rod destroyed. There were no spun bearings or anything. I've been working on DSMs and EVOs for 10+ years now and I would be reusing most of this stuff if I didn't already buy a stock motor to go into the car.
