PERRIN Tunes BBK Full on Evo 9
Had a great weekend as I got a chance to put on the BBK Full that has been sitting on the work bench for almost 2 weeks.
The Evo 9's Mods Before
PERRIN Performance
>>Intake
>>Down Pipe
>>Cat Delete
>>Cat-Back Exhaust
>>Front Mount Intercooler
>>Water/Meth Injection Kit (50/50 mix water & VP Meth)
>>EBCS, Electronic Boost Control Solenoid
Other Parts
>>AccessPORT
>>HKS 272's
>>740cc Injectors
>>Exedy Stage 2 Clutch
>>ACT Flywheel
All other power related parts are stock.
The Evo 9's Mods After
CBRD
>>BBK Full
All other parts same as before.
Disclaimer: The goal of this tuning session was to see what the BBK could do on "roughly the same tune" as I had on the stock turbo. We fixed the torque dip around 4K rpm but I cannot find the graph. Yes we could have gotten more power! This tuning session was just a starting point as we (Jeff and myself) where on a limited time budget. We will be doing a little more tweaking within a week.
So here are the results.
I pointed out a few interesting things on each graph.
Driving impressions on this tune: Drives AWESOME, not quite the HIT in the back when you floor it as the stock turbo tune I had but still respectable. Pulls MUCH LONGER and HARDER!

Also I bought cams when we where seeing broken cams and the HKS's seemed to be free of that.

After a few days of driving on both back roads and the stop -N- go commute the verdict is in, THIS TURBO ROCKS. With the tune I posted about in the first post the power is so smooth and pulls to my 7500 rev limiter. Part throttle mid corner smoothness is so nice, no hiccups, no twitches. I cant wait to get out on the track, both the straight one and the curvy one.
This is the perfect turbo for me!

Who cares if it reads high or low. He clearly supplied a baseline from his previous setup and so the gains are accurate. Whether this was done on a DynoJet, DynoDynamics, Mustang, it doesn't matter. This is why a baseline is so uber important. Tracking your gains are important and a lot of people don't realize this. Well, I guess it's important if you care about where you're money has gone and the benefits it has had.
