Robevo RS derails every thread megamerge
I disagree. I think the X was a big move towards making a car that was more livable, without losing the performance. This lead to many Evo IX and VIII owners making the same comments people about the X that are now being made about the RS.
i agree in some way with you, but still i dont think it was a big move. for me was a step rather. i had a VIII GSR SSL. other then nav and cruise control, the car gives me a same " comfortable feeling" . I think its easier for the eye inside, and out the X but that is all.
New Mirage is the only Chassis that Ditko converts: not old Mirage.
So that likely plays into ability to convert - as both use similar/same communication/electrical power protocol.
Old Mirage- is mainly a "show-car" conversion into Evo IV-vI, but using new Mirage with Evo X drivetrain gets the job done.
I want Ditkos conversion.
I think the light weight ACD modest size with modern drivetrain form a bases for any performance use.
And it can be upgraded later to better components, like Reiger or Exe-TX suspension, more powerful motor, etc.
But even in basic form it's rally car!

This is the car I am talking about. Just a theorycraft. Would it be better/easier than hatch.
as for old mirages I know that. Even FTO can be made into an Evo.
this is just "too ugly".
Sorry, its personal impression, you may not agree.
Ditko makes a car already, I would not reinvent the Mirage-Evo, it looks pretty much spit image of the Mitsubishi R5 Mirage- looks awesome, has the looks (aggressive and purposeful) and Ditko has the recipe.
I realized I am so busy with everything, that I cannot contemplate anything but to act as program manager, and pay for the build.
Hope to someday realize this dream. Its a decision. You can only drive one car at the time, there are many good options out there, especially when you are open to used alternatives like I am.
But I think for mere mortals, the Ditko Mirage is as close as we'll come to WRC level car under $100K.
And like base Evo its infinitely tunable, and serviceable, as both Mirage and Evo parts abound.
I am dwelling on it.
You can only drive so fast - if not racing and on public road - so our Evo's can easily be made to be fast to drive as fast as its possible. Thus having a more capable car in theory will not change the limitations in public space.
Otherwise, getting a WRC like car would be an easier decision.

This is a pretty ironic statement on an Evo forum. Mitsubishi cut a LOT of corners on the Evo in order to put the money where it mattered (to us). How many 10s of thousands of posts are on this forum making excuses for the crappy interior, crappy paint, etc? We're talking $30-40k cars, you can't have it all. We all like the Evo because Mitsubishi basically put the entire budget into the drivetrain/suspension/tires. But Ford doesn't get the same benefit of the doubt?
it is pretty ironic to complain about paint etc when you buy a detuned homologated street ready rally car on the evo forum. ..
lol
ps, did you see the FIA homolgation of the focus RS yet?

you pretty much miss the whole purpose of the evo. it doesnt matter the interior or the paint when it comes down to performance. the evo is actually a car which is focused on racing and further tuning, and all the parts it does matter is spot on for the purpose why they made it. Period . in fact they even homologated by FIA...

Once again, you missed the point that another person was trying to make.

This has to be a troll post. What is the purpose of the RS? To be as fast as possible for the price point. WSB wasn't complaining; he was pointing out how ironic it is that Evo owners are complaining about things that have no effect on performance but look bad, or aren't luxurious, like the rear brake appearance.
Once again, you missed the point that another person was trying to make.

usual smartness, what is the point of the RS?
so where would you cut the budget, on performance parts or let say paint quality and door cards / dash quality?
I'm seriously at a loss for what you're trying to get across.
The RS isn't a rally car. Get over it. There's, like, 28 people that still rally. It's cool, and the driver skill at the top levels is insane, but it's not a thing to most people - even Evo people - do or care about (compare quantity of Evos being rallied to quantity of Evos being stanced). So, yeah, Ford needs to consider things other than rear brake cooling during rally racing. Especially since they don't seem intent on lifting a finger to make it a rally car.
Do you even get the premise of the hot hatch category? Compact but still useful car that goes like stink and doesn't cost a ton (as Amby said, maximum AWD performance for minimum price). They're most owners' daily drivers, so yes, it needs a working interior and should have the basic gadgets that are standard on every other car. That means there will compromises. Ford scavenged the rear brakes off the ST, or maybe the Taurus, because they'll get the job done and won't require a newly engineered part. The parts bin lacked a suitable choice for the fronts, so they call up Brembo and source the right parts. Need an engine, oh look, there's a good I4t motor they can source without a clean sheet design. That's how the auto business works. It's all compromise. Putting Brembos on the back would add several hundred dollars to the cost, but not offer a thing in terms of performance. So you get ugly brakes. Compromise.

this is sounds like excuses. and speculations. we dont know how the brakes perform yet, and they are even used by the AWD system. etc.
anyhow if you want you can get my point about the difference on cutting the budget on brakes vs paint. Why that is different when you talking about performance cars. specially if they wanna rock the world.
