Again, take pro results with a grain of salt. It looks like Barbato lost 0.4-0.5 each side off the launches alone on his fast runs today. Take away the launch and he's got the win by 0.5.
Hahaha I'm just trying to make sure people aren't getting too excited. I think work still needs to be done to equalize the class.
been pushing a single aftermarket diff for so many years now - not that that is necessarily the answer, but i agree with you.
not sure now, but back then boost buggies did not agree with it, citing more 'required' costs to be competitive. i don't think more tire is the answer for us, too much struggle to fit tires as it is - how many people will do what it take to get there tire-wise?
i like a boost controller set to stock psi vs. what is going on now, but hard to enforce, easy to cheat. still better than "tuning in" boost creep/spikes IMO. these are things SCCA will never go for, especially with results like these, even if they are prosolo results. they dont WANT boost buggies to be the car to have. just close enough to keep coming.
It does sound like Bassicfun certainly doesn't mind getting creative with rule interpretations. All fun and games till you start winning on the national scene, but then your **** better be in order.
Unless you're in SM. We don't really give a crap about minor things
I have actually contacted SEB and/or STAC members before getting overly creative... it doesn't hurt to do your homework ahead of time and have someone on those committees 'agree' about your interpretation. Does it mean it can't be protested? nope... but it does mean you had good intentions of coloring inside the lines. Also interesting, those board members have said "doing what you said seems on the edge of legal, but if you change X, I'm aware of a few in your class that have been doing that for years." inside intel...
Funniest thing to me is that my national tour wins came in my old 2004 SSL, that was dog slow and pig heavy (almost 3300lbs)... I did the 'serious' build in 2014, and had less success, much due to my lack of time in the car, being a new father, building a business, etc.
My STU car was 2968lbs, and that was with factory seats, AGM battery and an aftermarket cruise control (keeping the street in street touring?). I figured with seats, lithium battery and a lightweight exhaust, I'd be 2920lbs +/-. And then it would be getting pretty crazy after that point.

Also worth note:
The car Barbato was driving was slapped together pretty quickly with parts pulled off the Z that was totaled a few weeks ago. I don't believe the car actually drove, much less competed, before departing for Wilmington. There is a sizeable margin for improvement/optimization in that car.
R2 is actually *P classes. That was Mike Brausen's FP Evo. He posted it for sale for an amazing deal about a year and a half ago and I've been kicking myself since for not jumping on the opportunity.

Back to street tires... Did anyone see the rumor that BFG has/is changing the construction of the Rival-S? Sources say the change is limited to the 3-rib sizes.
