2016 STU Discussion!
Sorry, but an adjustable wastegate restrictor is definitely outside the bounds of what we'd consider legal. Yes, the exhaust components are "free" but manually or electronically controlling boost is explicitly prohibited. (we've discussed it).

with our new wheel and tire package we're very very far from that. Richard helped us weigh ours at Crow's, 3113lbs... course, I had my guitar in the back, so subtract 1lb for that.
RJones - That weight would be using 17x9 wheels and 245s, I think the SM/SP guys have considerably more weight just in wheel/tire combinations, so they gain it one place, and give it back on wheels/tires.Oh, and mine was an RS, not many were campaigning those ABS-less toys.
Oh Doug, I must have misspoke, it is just part of the o2 housing and causes boost creep, it isn't adjustable once tuned, same as any other o2 housing that induces creep, whether by design or side effect.

I think I can see that weight on an RS, maybe. I'm around 2900lbs and don't have a lot that's different from an STU car for weight from an RS. Don't think you can pull AC in STU can you? That might be my only big difference from an STU car. Plus I have extra weight in the motor with the 2.3 (heavy crank), and more weight in wheels/tires.
I generally have rear seats in place but with them that puts me around the 2940 range.

With lighter seats, remove rear seats, your light rotors, and a few of the things I have planned that save 3-5lbs each, I think low 28xx is certainly possible without any aero. I'll soon be ballasting with extra fuel to my 2900 min weight.
How much did the 17x9 245 setup weigh? My 18x12 Volks are around 21lb and 315/30s and 335/30s are 27, and 28lb, respectively. So I'm pushing close to 50lb/corner in wheel/tire.
If I recall, my 17.9.5 RPF1s + Rivals at that time were ~38lbs... so a good 48lbs lighter across all 4 corners
If I was going to stay in STU & get 'serious business'.... I could make the argument that my original window sticker for my 06 RS had AC listed under "options" on it... not standard equipment, could mean that it could be removed, but only on that trim level.

Our 18x10 RPF1's with 265/35/18, full tread, came in at 45.5lbs.
10.5" would stretch them quite a bit, but sure, why not.. then, if we ever get more tire, you'd be golden, or if Brand-X comes out with something faster\wider (wider than the narrow RE71R), then you'd also be golden.
A/C was not optional regardless of where it was listed on the sticker. no stock evo part number exists for a non-ac accessory belt because they all came with AC, including the RS.
Knowing first hand what it takes to get an evo9 rs down to around 2900lbs, count me as also suspect of 2900lbs being legal in STU even with 245's.
It does sound like Bassicfun certainly doesn't mind getting creative with rule interpretations. All fun and games till you start winning on the national scene, but then your **** better be in order.
Unless you're in SM. We don't really give a crap about minor things
