And that's exactly what I was worried about with my dealership, however they did a good job at everything, like I said one little blemish on the dash and that's it otherwise clean. I would be doing the same thing if they screwed my ecu up , hopefully mitsu will help them

They did. They asked me to fix them.

If you don't mind me asking, what dealer did you take it to? I'm a PA guy as well, and I think mine hasn't been done yet. This being my first mitsu, I'm not familiar enough with any of the local dealers to know which are **** and which are decent.

Thanks!

yup, it's either that or they charge you $130.00 extra for the extra work they have to do to mind your gauge wiring. I'm still working on taking my dash myself to the dealership. One dealership turned me down because they want the whole car, the other is going to call me back. I already have the dash out of the car.

Found a dealer that is willing to change my airbag with the dash out of the car. While I was at it I also did the HVAC mix door repair. I highly recommend doing both of these at the same time if you decide to pull the dash out yourself.

I also got a call from my local Mitsubishi dealer for the "airbag" issue to come to their shop mid June to exchange the faulty device FOC. Takes about 2 hours to do that.

I already announced to my mitsu dealer that I will be in the driver seat while they exchange the faulty device in the passenger side

Take the 10 minutes needed & disconnect the passenger side air bag. Just make sure you disconnect the battery

Remove the glove box & the connection can be seen & disconnected

It's not a matter of it randomly deploying, that's not what the recall is for. It's for metal fragmentation in the igniter of the airbag. I.E. shrapnel grenade going off in the face of the passenger

So has anyone actually heard of this ever happening? Serious question.

Heard of what happening? The airbag igniter going off and shredding up the person in front of it? If you're that curious, you can Google it and do some research. I've been told it's not pretty but I have no desire to look myself.

If it weren't a real issue, do you think there would have been a recall for millions of igniters? This isn't something to go "oh, won't happen to me". At the very least, unplug the passenger airbag, but plan to have it replaced at some point

Yes, it's been on the news several times within the past few months.

Ten people have already been killed as a result of Takata airbag inflator failure across several makes and models. The evo is in group 1 replacement priority as well which makes matters worse.

The Mitsubishi recall service number is: TSB# SR-14-012REV

I highly advise anyone who reads this to follow Demons advice and unplug their passenger side airbag until you get the recall done.
