Hi,

Car: 2008 Lancer ES
Low beam : 9006 LED bulbs

I have disabled my daytime running lights with ETACS Decoder because my LED low beam were flickering when light switch was on the OFF position. This is now fixed but for some reason when I turn on my parking lights (1st notch on the light switch), the low beams start flickering like they did when the DRLs were enabled so it means they are getting DRL-style power.

Here are the scenarios
- Engine off, key on, handbrake down, lights off : no light (good)
- Engine off, key on, handbrake down, lights on (parking) : parking lights on (good)
- Engine off, key on, handbrake down, lights on (low) : parking + low beam on (good)
- Engine on, key on, handbrake down, lights off : no light (good)
- Engine on, key on, handbrake down, lights on (parking) : parking lights on, low beam flickering (bad bad bad!)
- Engine on, key on, handbrake down, lights on (low) : parking lights on, low beam on (good)

Is there any way to "unlink" the low beam and parking lights so they can be controlled separately?

Fixed by swapping the low beam relay (the big one with the heatsink) for a regular one

What is your current setting?

 

I have chosen "DRL Not Present"

 

Sometimes when I put my key to the ON position, the low beam will flash once for just 0.1second (like if something was just discharging electricity for a brief moment).

Could it be related?

 

I managed to solve my issue by changing the low beam relay (the big one with the heatsink) by a regular relay. This also fixed the flash when turning the key to ONl!

Everything now operate as expected. Yay!

 

Sorry to bring this back, but I have the same issue. Can you assist me as to where the low beam relay is located? Much appreciated!

 

It's the big one with 4 fins above the 2 columns of tiny fuses on the right

 

Thanks for the pic! I will check it in later today. Is the regular relay that you replaced it with just a standard relay you can buy from the auto parts store? ie the 4 or 5 pin relay?

 

It is a regular 4 pins relay, the same as the other ones next to it. Could be black, green, blue, orange depending on which models you have. Make sure you get one that has the bottom sealed to prevent moisture from getting inside (like the other ones that are already installed).
