When logging in evoscan what should i see under crank signal turning the car over ?

So far my logs show 0. Not sure if my evoscan isnt working right or if im really not getting crank signal to ecu

if the ecu is turning the fuel pump on by itself, then it is seeing a crank signal.

i would unplug one of the coils and use a test light while cranking to see if its getting signal from the ECU. I believe it should be test light ground strap to + battery terminal and probe end to pin 3 coil trigger wire in the pigtail.

We tried the timing light deal. lol. bought new oem coils and wires just to be sure. still no spark across the board.

have continuity and good grounds between ecu and sensors.

Ecu is not getting some input or something so its not sending signal to fire coils is our course of thinking.

im not talking about testing the coils though. Im saying unplug the coils and test the pigtail directly with the test light as i have described. To see if the ecu is even sending signal to the coils to fire. If its not then i would look into the cam angle sensor. Don't just replace it though check and make sure everything looks good with the wiring and orientation etc. There is a ground strap directly at the cam angle sensor, make sure it is securely grounded. Also make sure the engine grounding straps to the chassis/battery are in good order too.

originally car came with two cam sensor's. one it and one extra. we tried both and i still ended up buying a new one.

still wasn't the issue.

you have any idea what value i should see under crank signal when logging cranking over in evoscan ?

I have never tried logging that request before. I just log RPM, but according to this

https://evoecu.logic.net/wiki/MUT_Requests

request 4A is a "PurgeDuty" request for logging Purge Solenoid Duty Cycle. So it could be mistakenly labeled in evoscan. Actually looking into my evoscan installed on my desktop I have 4 different items all requesting 4A but with different labels, so there is certainly something wrong there.

i think you can also put a timing light on the engine speed detection connector and see if that flashes as well, but i'm not positive on that.

yeah we tested continuity at that engine speed connector to ecu to be sure wire was good and we had continuity.

I just left the shop so now its just questions and trouble shooting. cant actually test anything now.

continuity is fine, but are you getting a signal on it is the question. The questions im asking are more about testing the actual signals then if the wiring is good. Did you verify the grounding wire at the cam angle sensor is there and securely tightened down to the sensor housing?
