Can someone tell me how they fit 315's on their EVO without using widebody kit? Looking for some good fender flare or custom work examples. What offset too?

 

Andy Smedegard has ran 315 Hoosiers on his time attack Evo IX. The car does not have a wide body but the stock fenders are modified quite a bit. He and Ronnie Solliman also managed to fit 315 Falken 615K's under a stock body Evo IX RS for the One Lap of America event. The wheels on both cars were Enkei 18x10.5 NT03's. The key to their success on both cars was the Wisefab track suspension kit. Comes with a price tag though. The Wisefab kit is almost $8,000 before installation.

 

^That also involves cutting in certain areas to gain clearance. I can't find the pictures but I know they were posted somewhere on here fairly recently.

Rule of thumb is lower offset up front (most do a spacer so you can rotate tires) and higher offset in the rear.

Im still on stock fenders and fit a 295/30 on 18x10.5 wheels but I think that is pretty much all Im going to fit as Im maxxed out on rear quarter clearance and I already ruined my rear quarters. You can either go inward or outward and I cant go more outward without cutting the quarters and inward requires cutting things too as well as other various control arms to narrow track width in the rear which I dont care to do.

315's is no small feat on a CT9A chassis. Even fitting a 10.5 wheel with a 285 or 295 requires a good amount of work. Anything is possible but its going to cost $$ as well as time and ultimately means the potential to hack up the car in ways which cant be reversed.

Smedegard and Ronnie keep me up at night with all their cool tricks. I have yet to learn the “sponsorship” part. No way I’m spending $8k on my wider rim/tire dream. LOL! But I have to see this Wisefab suspension set up.

 

What are the two offsets we use most on evo’s? I have 38 currently and use spacers up front. If I go 10.5”, what offset do I need for front & rear. I need same all around so I can run square set up and rotate.

 

They had to do significant cutting inboard on the rear to get 315s to fit. I know exactly where they did the work (marked in rubber on my setup ), but it seemed like a stretch of the "inch and a pound" rule of street mod for it to be legal for me.

 

I'm on a 275/35 with 18x10.5+30 NT03 with 20mm spacer up front to clear calipers and 3mm spacer in the rear to clear trailing arms. I'm thinking of moving to a 295/30 or 315/30 (no good options for 305/30) but clearances are already tight. The only way I see myself doing it is if I can pull my rear quarters enough and get aftermarket trailing arms. I still need to look at what I'd need to do in the front.

I've looked into 11" wide wheels but it'd be extremely hard to fit without some serious body cutting.

 

10.5 with 315 is very hard unless you start cutting and pulling the fenders a bit. if you like your stock body stay with 10in wide and 295 max.

if you learn the "sponsorship" stuff please let me know. haha. 95% of our costs are self funded.

don't NEED wisefab to make 315's fit. the trailing arm is the only part really needed. from there its just cutting and getting your offset just right.

 

Cool. Thanks for the pic! At my current 295/30 +38 on a 10” wide rim, I’m nearly perfect and it works. I think 10.5” wide rim on same tire is doable, but at minimal gain.

If modifying heavily to get 11” wide rim to work, why not go 12” wide for same labor cost? Hoosier makes a 335/35 tire. Time for the widebidy kit and that sponsorship plan we all seem to think the other guy has. 😜
Can you imagine 335/35 on the front? Ha!!

 

^I dont think they have a 335/35 tire but rather a 30 sidewall. At that point that tire has got to be extremely tall to boot which brings on an extra set of challenges.

 

Yea my 275/35 is taller than a 315/30 and it's definitely tight to fit that, height wise.

 

It's noteworthy that the 335/30 Hoosier is the same diameter as the 315/30, so you don't have to worry about making any additional height work...just width.

Makes me want to try 315's eventually. I've already got R/TErnie rear trailing arms so if the only thing holding me back is a cutoff wheel then why not!? Granted its a slippery slope and the second I make 315's work then Ill want 335s
