Ideal Location for Hands-Free Mic
Ideal Location for Hands-Free Mic
I've got the headunit per this:

But i've never bothered routing a mic because I figured the car was too noisy. I'm willing to give it a try, but I'm wondering where exactly it should go? On the a-pillar? Steering column? Somewhere near the map lights? Anyone got a good solution for this to pick up voice without too much road noise?

its mount came with a 3m double sided adhesive. I didn't want to route the wire through the actual cover because I take **** apart often, but you could if you wanted to for a cleaner look. Pics incoming

another viable spot would be on the underside of the plastic surround above the factory gauge cluster, that would require drilling a hole to run the cable though, which i didn't want to do. As you can see i already have too many left over holes from previous gadgets.
got it, i think i found the microphone on amazon -
close enough anyway. need to check to make sure the headunit i have uses 2.5mm (not 3.5) for the mic tho. gotta imagine it's standard but with these chinese companies u never know.

I have mine on a clip on the visor. It's closer to my mouth (higher sound pressure) and isolated somewhat from chassis vibes. I ran the cable up the inside of the A-pillar cover. No complaints from the people I talk to.
