I'll make sure to get the fenders done before I put the wheels on then. How important is the rear bumper bolt relocate?

 

The bumper bolt is just another rub point. I would recommend a test fit to confirm, but based on the calculations, it will likely be needed. Heres a pic of what it looks like

 

How far back would I need to relocate and cut off, an inch?

 

Should be based on your test fit, but at least 1". Mine is more like 1.5-2"

 

One rub point I never see mentioned for some reason, but that rubbed on my car even though the bumper bolt in its stock location wasn't, is a small piece of plastic trim at the rear bumper. When it's on it covers the bumper bolt that needs to be relocated. This is what it looks like (passenger side IIRC). You can see where the tire was rubbing (dark marks) and where i had marked it with white chalk trying to find what was still rubbing, before i found out it was this piece.

I ended up trimming the last inch and a half or so off of it. Roughly where my index finger is, and straight up from there (keeping in mind the piece is at an angle in the picture)

 

For sure, thats a good point. I removed mine. I also pushed out the lower bumper cover 1" w/these alum struts to stop the rub

how's the clearance on a 255/40-18 on an 18x9 +35? would i need to go 255/35-18 to still clear everything?

I like youre idea. Youre more in the "kill zone" with this spec. Ran your no.s using the 40 series. You will have a -2.71% speedo error but dont think youll need a fender pull.

Certainly a rear roll should do it. It may need to be a nice tight roll vs a 3/4" roll as some of us have. Dont think youll be needing the bumper bolt relocation either.

You know me, I like meaty tires, so the 40 series would be my choice.

Not sure what wheel this is, but hopefully no front spacer is needed

 

it's a negative error? i thought 255/40-18 will be taller? i'm running 255/40-17 and it's very close to stock height.

i'm consdering getting some volks in 18x9 +35 to "start," just exploring some other options

 

Yes, definitely a taller tire but comes up as a neg due to the slower rotation. i.e. at 60mph you'll be showing 58.38

sorry for all the requests - i realized i could just stuff the 265s on the 18x9 - i'm assuming in this case too the fitment is all around better. a little wider but much shorter, should still have rolled fender and bumper bolt clearance.

 

Sure, the 265/35 works w/that wheel but I think the overall look & street performance is better w/the 255/40 (more side wall protection on the street & looks beefy)

But, if the 265/35 is your choice, it should fit OK w/a tight rear roll. The bumper bolt relocation may not be needed but it will be close (very dependent on rear camber setting). If you set your rear camber to -2.0 degrees, that will help a great deal

Not sure how the fitment would be or if I'd run into any issues w/ a 255/40 tire.

These would be going on my IX. I'm on Bilsteins/Swifts now, but will be installing a set of coilovers this spring.

I'm ok w/ rolling the fenders but nothing more than that. Also, I have mud flaps...and I really do not want to get rid of them.

 

Very popular wheel, but will need some aggressive rear fender work beyond the roll. You can certainly attempt just the roll (should be a flat roll) but a rear pull would likely be needed for a true, no rub fit
Also, due to running the +27 & the 40 series tire, you will have to relocate the rear bumper bolt

If you search Enkei NT03, there are many threads w/many comments. Front spacer will be needed (approx 12mm)
