How did you connect the wires?

Just to clear anyone else who looks for this topic.

You are not going to get any sound if you just get a wire harness and hook do all the splicing. Guess what, look where you connect the wire harness to, there are only 5 wires going to it.

The big black wire that looks like a 6 cd changer is actually the wire to the amp. The amp then powers the 7 or so speaks and then sends a signal to another amp in the sub.

You could re-wire the whole system,
but the easiest way to solve this problem is the soundgate adaptor that you can get at soundgate.com.

Just hook it up, splice the blue wire to the blue and white, and you are good to go.

Hope that clears some things up for people who have a simular problem.

Does the sub work with that adapter? I only see 4 channels and a remote turn-on lead.

I heard that another amp actually controls the sub. Odd, but it sends a signal out turning on supposedly another amp in the box of the sub. Then again I could be totally wrong because I never really cracked open that box. I have yet to install a new head unit, but i'm doing that tomorrow so i'll keep you guys updated.

The sub should work with the soundgate adapter. It has the remote turn on lead for the factory amp, thus is should work the sub..

There's no amp in the sub box. It's too light (I've taken mine out a few times) and there's only 2 wires going into it. It must be powered by the amp under the driver's seat, like all the other speakers.

There's only one amp showing in the service manual. Thus, the sub box is powered by the main amp...

Hey finally got the soundgate adaptor.

It took me 30 mins to get out the infinity sounds system and the install the new Alpine headunit. Such and easy install with the soundgate adaptor. Recommended buy.

Does it still sound just as good as when you had the stock head unit in there?
