Power Steering
Ok guys I found out what the problem was. There was normal powersteering fluid in my lines and I found out that Lancers requier a special power steering fluid. Now all my seals are gone inside my steering rack and my fluid runs at about 270 degrees! its normat to run at 190 but 270 will melt the resivior. This already hapened once. Now I have to save up some money so I can buy a new steering rack. The shop I took my car too said it would cost 1,200 installed. For now I will have to drive my dads Z71 gas sucker. For all of you that are having the same squealing problem I sugest that you get it checked out.
I went to AUtoZone and couldn't find any "Diamond ATF". All I could find is everything else along w/ Valvoline which is a Synthetic blend and it conditions and stops leaks or what not. Is that good as well?
NO!!!!!! You must use Diamond atf. I used that valvoline synthetic and it ruined my seals in the steering rack. Now I cant drive till I get the new rack and pump in the mail. Ruins the pump too! Not cheap!!!!
edit:The manual says use Diamond ATF and nothing else. I dont want yall to have to go through the same thing I am going through right now.

From comatose721 on the first page of this thread. All I know is that the manual says Diamond ATF and thats not what I used so now I am screwed. Other prouducts may work but I wont risk it when I get the new rack in. As for where to get it, I have no clue. May have to go to the dealership.
Just to clarify...
While getting my oil changed at the local Mitsubishi dealership, I asked about power steering fluid, to see if I could use the Redline power steering fluid I bought. The mechanics and service workers told me that I could use any power steering fluid. They said that the only fluids that you have to use is the Automatic transmission fluid. You have to use the Mitsubishi automatic transmission fluid, because it has something to do with friction and stuff.
i can look it up in the shop manual....i believe they give a listing of an equivalent product to mitsu's auto trans fluid (along with other fluid + lubricants). it's not all cut and dry like the dealer will usually tell you.

Hey Lancer man, Where'd you get thos diagrams from? I'm in desperate need of one so i can locate some sensors that go on top of the tranny.
