HTA35R vs 37R
well personally id consider going with the hta35r because of spool times and it delivers a 50ft/lb increase over a regular 35r at i think 4600 or maybe 4800rpms. the hta is also 700whp achievable.
The HTA is supposed to spool sooner, therefore make a bit more torque throughout the power band. It is a good turbo, but I was like you and had a AMS 35R kit and swapped in the HTA turbo, and did not find the change to be very dramatic.
Dave Buschur insists the HTA does not make any more peak power than a normal 35R.

the hta has the same diameter compressor wheel (exducer side) as the standard 35R but a smaller inducer. It "should" make the same power as the 35R by all conventional thinking, and even less when compared to the 37R. But the hub is smaller on the hta than on a standard 35R actually increasing the area for moving air??? Thanks to 94AWDcoupe for pointing this out here.

It's going to take some time I think to really put this turbo in the proper pecking order.

I was looking back on Daves old threads, as I am torn between the 2. But the 37 is what I am thinking I will do this winter. In hopes of an HTA 37r soon
Here are some dyno sheets I found.

yes all 2.0l stage 3 BR blocks, heads ect....
37's only have what looks to be about 30 to 50whp over the 35.
But the HTA has 30 to 40 more tq.

The HTA is a great turbo, but you know, I'm using it with a Precision 5-bolt housing which is different to what Dave is using. On top of that yet another housing was used I believe in the dyno test on FP's website that DB did. Also I had no dyno to do a before and after. Just datalogs and the fueling from my Autronic.
And if indeed people say it makes 40 or so ft/lbs more torque for a good part of the power band. Let me ask you, are you going to feel 40 ft/lbs when you are already making a ton of torque on race fuel with a 35R? I'm on a 2.4 so I might have gone from 600 ft/lbs to 640... which I doubt I could feel seat of the pants.
DB going 150+ is nutz. How close would he have got with a normal 35R though?
Just food for thought guys. I do think it spools a bit quicker than a normal 35R. But on the Precision .63 A/R housing I'm thinking at most 300 rpm sooner, probably less. Also I think it was less surgey than my 2 year old AMS kit.
The 35R is a nutz turbo so be careful not to mistake enthusiasm about a 35R for all being HTA.
Also let's be honest, Dave Buschur is so good, and seems to getting better and better as a tuner and developing his parts, that just cuz he goes 150 with HTA, does not mean it is all HTA doing that.
Yes HTA is 700 whp capable. If your DB and have your car on the dyno once a week for a year.
