Tip for fans

I've been racking my brain and limited electrical skills in trying to put an external switch on the A/C fan for track days. I wanted to have it come on to keep everything cool and to draw air through the IC (since it is halfway behind the IC)

Thorough trial and error I found that you can pull the 10A fuse in the engine fuse box for the A/C compressor clutch. This disables the compressor from kicking in, but when you turn the fan on inside (low if you wish) and press the A/C button both fans kick on and stay on as long as you have the A/C engaged, all without ever actually engaging the compressor.

Now I didn't really want both fans to be on the whole time but I figured this was much less messy than wiring in a switch, plus if my thermostat is doing its job, then overcooling shouldn't be an issue. Just pop the fuse back in and everything goes back to normal.

I did a log today and the only thing this changes is your idle characteristics. Your idle goes up a bit and richens up, but nothing happens to normal driving or WOT either timing or AFR-wise.

I found it helpful, maybe someone else will too.

Does the motor have to be on in order for the connection to be made?

Uh.. which motor. The engine? Umm... I think the engine must be running for the fans to come on. Connection? umm.... there isn't really a "connection"... you just pull the fuse and turn on your interior fan and press the A/C button and bingo... you've got both fans on for as long as you have the A/C button depressed.

Nice this helped me big time. I was having a little bit of snow fun and I noticed that my temps were climbing due to the lack of air flow over the rad.
