Awesome! Do you think it was necessary to use AEM EMS for this conversion? Think it would be possible to do it with a stock IX ecu?

Stock IX ecu and wiring harness would work. I'm doing this same swap on my car. 8.5 for the win.

The plugs on the ECU are different between the various year VIII's and the IX, I wonder exactly what all you would need to pull this off...

How bout a boomslang harness for the VIII and the IX, chop each so you have the VIII on one side and the IX on the other and solder wires together to their appropriate pins/add the MIVEC wires to the boomslang harness then plug the contraption into the IX ecu...

You can use a stock ecu. Since I didn't have a stock Evo 9 ECU, I went with the AEM. The reason why I went with a complete engine harness (brand new) from an Evo 9 was because this car will see a ton of track time and I didn't want issues down the road.

My previous engine harness (evo 8) was hacked into before for various ecu options (vishnu, AEM, etc.) and even though everything was put back together correctly, I would run into issues with the harness on extremely hot days at the track. So I figured if I'm going to do this conversion, I might as well make it easier on myself.

Here's what I purchased:

- Engine Harness from Evo 9.
- Complete Evo 9 Motor with Mivec sensors, ect.

I also had my spare Evo 8 motor for any extras I needed like sensors, etc.

The mivec wiring is what will make it tricky and ECU Plugs but everything else is pretty identical.

Actually it is more in depth than you think if you have an 03/04 without ACD...

If you don't wire up the ACD contoller the IX ECU would might throw a code on that but operate everything else normally. The ACD is controlled though a different ACD controller anyway, it just isn't there so nothing to process or worry about.

If you have a complete EVO IX engine harness, EVO IX ECU, and MIVEC head with appropriate sensors and what not why wouldn't this work?

What do you mean by more in depth?

Crazy. Is there a bunch of part numbers for the engine harness, or just one? Do you mind sharing the part number(s)?

turbo is pretty laggy even considering you are running a 9.5:1 compression.
