Thumbs up P1 vs P2 dyno results are in!

The first DYNO shows the comparison of my EVO with P1 vs P2. Car is totally stock except for the P1 and P2 ECU flashes. Notice the peak hp is only 4hp more and peak tq is only 10 ft/lbs more than with the p1, but the p2 is making anywhere from 5-25hp more throughout the rpm band until it gets to about 5000k and the car holds. I'm assuming if I could lean it out a little from 5k-7k I could make more peak hp. The hp curve is primarily flat from 5000rpm to 7000rpm with a small jump at 5800 and 7000rpm.

Notice in the second graph, the P1 was running very lean, while the P2 is running very rich. Also notice the entry points... they are very weird and off by 1000rpm I must say I don't believe the dynojet air/fuel ratio techniques as they look very odd and most likely inaccurate. Maybe when I get the Works Exhale and the ECU flash to go along with it, things will show improvement in the uppper rpms and I'll take it to another shop and have a wide band o2 setup done to monitor air/fuel.

Great job so far WORKS! I love the usable power over stock and P1 and things all apear to be on the safe/conservative side.

Conditions for the P1 dyno are:
Absolute barometric pressure: 29.96 in.Hg.
Vapor pressure: 0.078 in.Hg.
Air Temperature: 79.6 F
Humidity 65%

Conditions for the P2 dyno are:

Absolute barometric pressure: 30.15in.Hg.
Vapor pressure: unknown
Air Temperature: 44.2 F
Humidity 49%

And if anyone is interested here is a small video clip of the car on the dyno www.jcolem3.netfirms.com/images/dyno.AVI

Nice, I like that! Now go buy that turbo back you have been shopping for. Definitely a conservative tune. I can't wait to get back up there myself and compare, since we put the same #'s down stock w/ p1 on same dyno. It will be interesting.

Works did that to give more room for those who plan to add high flow exhaust systems.

Sir lurks, when do you think you'll be back up for another dyno? Go to any meets? Yeah, I am still looking at exhaust options and right now leaning more towards getting the WORKS exhale and resonated IP. Lightweight, not loud and the Tip is beautifully crafted.

Even if they did that to allow for high flow exhaust systems, how does that change the way the ECU controls the a/f ratios?

Was the included hose installed for the P2 run(s)?

Yes, the P2 setup was done with the included hose assembly from WORKS.

Yeah ... I'll bet money that the A/F graphs are incorrect. I don't think there's any way that a P1 was running a 13.2 and a P2 was running a 10.9.

It'd be interesting to see what a WB O2 would read

Where can I find delineated the key differences between the P1 and P2. I'll likely otherwise remain stock and the P1 mod supposedly gives gas mileage and the P2 supposedly takes it away.

What are the key differences between the two? Is boost held in the P1 much like the P2 or not?

Thanks!

I actually don't think the P2 makes gas mileage worse. What I have found is that I like to feel the power more now that I have it, so I have been pushing my Evo harder. I don't blame that on the P2, per se. Rather, I blame it on myself for driving too hard too often.
