The Evolution of F-Prepared, Re-build Log.
Hey Guys! I have been working on Evo's a long while, but finally ended up with one as a race car. This log should have plenty of good information, and I wanted to do it to establish a timeline for myself as well.
Anywho, Mike Brausen owned the car previous to my co-driver Josh and myself. It had done well on a national level on and off, and we saw potential for it in this class. The backup plan was always to swap everything into a street mod car if it somehow proved to not be competitive. We drove out to pick up the car at spring nationals in Nebraska this year.
I'm going to list the parts currently on the car so I can better keep track of them, Not sure if it will give you guys much value haha.
Engine:
1/2 filled OEM block
Manley Turbo tuff 10:1 gas ported pistons, HD wrist pins
Manley Turbo Tuff Rods with Custom age 625 ARP hardware
ACL race rod and main bearings
Kiggly HLA

Currently on 1100/1300 springs

Works sway bars front and rear (only using rear currently)
Whiteline bump steer/roll center kit in front
Ernie rear high-clearance trailing arms
Wilwood Small front brake kit (for 16" rim clerance)
wheels and tires:
Real wheels 16x12 wheels
Hoosier 23.5x12-16 slicks
Misc:
Trunk mounted rad
Kirkey seat
Dewite 2200cfm fan
2250lbs without ballast, minimum weight = 2700lbs.
I won't go into too much detail about the problems we found with the car right away. But we gutted the whole suspension and started over on setup. We found a bent Spindle and replaced all the bushings with sphericals before our first outing.
The car showed pace right away and we were able to come away with a couple national level wins with it at the end of the season. We have a large amount of stuff to get done this winter, so check back often!

Some work we did right after getting the car, removed bushings, bead blasted arms, and install ESM Race bushing kit...
After installation of the kit we checked bump travel on each corner and set the dampers to impact bump stops right before critically hitting the car. We also trimmed more of the fenders and got the car roughly 1" lower than it was previously. Getting the rear to have this much uptravel at this ride height made pocketing of the frame and such necessary to get full travel of the upper arm.
Lastly on the re-assemble we installed out new camber plates.
More to come later as I get the pictures in order!

There is another silver and red car, awesome build but was never ran competitively. It is currently still for sale.
Here is the formula for minimum weight in my class. My actual weight is 2695lbs based on actual displacement.... Here is the break down.
My weight factor is 1.2xdisplacement. = 2400lbs
12" wheels =100lbs
awd =200lbs
total weight =2700lbs minimum
Minimum weights are determined by engine displacement. Increases in engine
displacement resulting from legal overbore are not considered in these
calculations.
Wheels up to 10” wide are allowed with no weight increase; a maximum
width of 12” is permitted.
Weight formulas (lbs.):
Piston Engines: 0.750 x displacement (cc)
Rotary Engines: 0.700 x specified displacement (cc)
Forced Induction: + 0.450 x displacement (cc)
Peripheral Port Rotary: + 0.050 x displacement (cc)
Weight Adjustments (lbs):
Wheels greater than 10” wide up to 12” wide: .....................................Add 100
AWD:.............................................. ..............................Add 0.100 x displacement (cc)
FWD:.............................................. .....................Subtract 0.100 x displacement (cc)
Solid Drive Axle:............................................. .........Subtract 0.050 x displacement
Regardless of the weight formulas above no car may weigh less than
1900 lbs. or be required to weigh more than 2700 lbs. prior to addition
of weight adjustments defined herein and in Section 17.
Weight Calculation Example:
Subaru WRX STI (2.5L) with 11” wheel width.
Actual displacement (before overbore): 2457 cc.
The formula would be: 0.750 (piston engine) + 0.450 (forced induction)
= 1.2 (total weight factor).
Calculated weight: 1.2 x 2457 = 3195 lbs. (exceeds maximum limit).
2700 lbs. (maximum allowed weight) + 246 lbs. (0.100 x displacement,
rounded) + 100 lbs. (wheel width over 10”) = 3046 lbs. (total weight
The only heavier car in the class is the STI, because it is all weight based on displacement.

One of the big weight/cg mods we did right away was get the car over to full lexan windows front and rear. This shaved around 30lbs up high, which we then bolted to the floor of the car.
I also had to build a new exhaust as the car was too loud for some of the local events. This is no two mufflers with a clock-able turn down. We ended up fully wrapping it to help with resonation.
We also added a new steering wheel and extension, and installed a lightweight kirkey as far back and as low as we could and still drive the thing.....
Should have some new content coming as the winter build season kicks in.

Looks like a really fun car. Definitely interested to see how it does.
I see you're still on a stock shifter assembly. I've got a CAE shifter in my car and I think it's a fantastic mod. Shifter feel is extremely crisp and precise and it also puts the knob a fair bit closer the wheel which is nice. It seriously blows any other shifter I've ever felt out of the water.
Also out of curiousity what oiling mods are done to the engine?
