url/subdomain problem

The following problem occurs about 40% of the time on my Charter high speed cable connection. It also occurs with the same frequency with my mother and mother-in-laws connections. I've been a member of this website while having 2 past and my current employers. I've never had this problem at work. I suspect its Charter related but they want me to ask the admins if they have any clue what the problem might be.

Problem:
On the main page(www.evolutionm.net), if I click a link to a thread, I get the following error message "forums.evolutionm.net could not be found. Please check the name and try again." Reload the page... same problem. Shut down the browser and restart it... same problem. However, I can edit the linked URL and get to the intended page. Say the link points to https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...hreadid=149252 . If I change it to https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...hreadid=149252 , it works fine.

It does this in long periods. It'll work for one session, then if I leave and come back after washing my Evo, it won't work.

Suggestions???

if you read down a few threads in this very forum, you will notice your not the only one with this problem.

if you get your ISP to update their DNS servers, it won't happen.

One thing you could do that is only a hack of a solution would be to edit your hosts file and add an entry with the IP address and then the hostname.

http://accs-net.com/hosts/how_to_use_hosts.html

If you do decide to go this route and this site is ever loadbalanced via DNS or they ever change IP addresses this will cause the site to stop working on your end.

Thanks guys!!! Untill I get the urge to call and talk to the Charter Techs again, I'm using the 2 original DNSs automatically assigned to me by charter, followed by 4.2.2.4.

Works great now!
