I read that thread about member status and possible rating systems. I don't know how an unabused rating system would be incorporated. That's for the mods to figure out.

I realize that post count has nothing to do with applicable knowledge or respect or driving skill (but maybe the ability to smiley your way higher). I've been a long-time member of Maxima.org and I've seen post-****** by the dozens. I just want to suggest changing the member status levels to something that is more fun and interesting than the current levels.

Here is a list I made. I tried to make it a natural progression among the 5 kingdoms of life and phylums and orders and stuff. The number of posts and levels could be altered. Many more levels could be inserted. The progression could also be limited to one kingdom or just mammals, but I like the variety.

0-9 - I finally posted something!
10-49 - Newbie
50-99 - Bacteria
100-149 - Amoeba (or Paramecium)
150-199 - Hydra
200-249 - Starfish
250-299 - Salmon
300-349 - Tadpole
350-399 - Crocodile
400-499 - Platypus
500-599 - Kangaroo
600-799 - Lion
800-999 - Baboon (or Orangutan)
1000-1499 - Chimpanzee
1500-1999 - Evo Enthusiast
2000-2499 - Evo Obsessed
2500-2999 - Evo Maniac
3000-3999 - Lives in an Evo (down by the river... heheh)
4000+ - Evo God

Ehhh... I'm not feeling these. Having too many like this will only encourage people to try to inflate their post count. I think the level should be contingent on a combination of posts/day, total posts, and length of time.

Perhaps a minimum amount of time you have been here until you get to be evolving in addition to the number of posts. Then evolved can be based on posts/day maintained over a time period, for example 2 posts/day for over the last month or something. This way, evolved members who are gone for a year and come back will only be evolving until they get their involvement rates up again.

I suppose more levels couldn't hurt, but this list has way too many for my tastes...
