I haven't run into too much of the stuff that's mentioned here (bickering, name-calling, racism). But I usually am looking for information and don't do too much socializing on here. I agree there are some members that appear to be barely literate, but I don't know if it's reasonable to expect them to route posts through others so that they're better formed. If someone's just being lazy then I'd have no problem with imposing some sort of sanction, but I've got a feeling that most are simply doing the best they can. If people were put in timeout for not knowing their "there" from their "their", or the difference between "your" and "you're" you'd have to have a corner big enough to hold half the people hear... I mean, "here".

Since we're confessing our sins, I've been guilty of posting some dumb stuff here on occasion (the knock-off Lancer grill, racing harness, and BOV incidents/posts come to mind ), but I mean well. I wouldn't want that stuff held against me long term.

I absolutely come on here to get opinions on products, mods, etc. that I'm considerings. As long as the opposing viewpoints are put forth without insulting anyone then it's a good discussion - as long as the poster knows what they're talking about.

What I've seen done in some other online forums is rewarding knowledgeable forum users with special titles so that the quality opinions can be sifted out of the sea of posts. The 'newbie', 'evolving member' designations speak to volume of posts, but as we all know, quantity does NOT equal quality. Don't ask me how you determine - fairly - who qualifies for the quality designations, but I'm sure some of the bigger users of this board know inidividuals who seem to have a knack for posting intelligent, well-founded posts. I'd get the "50/50" symbol, I'm right about half the time.

Isn't that the purpose of the new rules (i.e. to put a stop to that kind of thing)?

see how america works? nobody can get mad at this guy for being an idiot. it's his God given american right. i applaud you for your honest opinion, no matter how stupid it is. it's good that you wanted to express yourself, but it seems like you got a bit too confident, and tried to make a joke. next time make one that's funny. it's okay. i was in the 7th grade once too. in a few years maybe you'll be able to come up with something at least at a high school level. that's good though. keep up the good work.

Golly,

Just a note before I delete your comments. Read the rules of this site you agreed to when you signed up. Your reply is exactly the type of "in your face crap" we do not allow. I assume you are having an "out of bottle" experience. Please PM me if you have any questions. Thanks.

it's all good man, do what you gotta do. i'm an "in your face" kinda guy. if you've got to delete my comments, go right ahead. your response to my post is the kind of "save the wussies from the mean internet people crap" that i was talking about. everybody here got to speak their mind, no matter how stupid it was. i speak mine, i get censored. if the people on this board can't take what i said, that's pretty pathetic don't you think? if anything said on any of these sites affects/changes your attitude/life in any noticeable way at all, you need help. it's funny that they need a babysitter to delete the "meanie posts" because they'll wet themselves if anybody says anything besides "i love your car man. i love you man. let's hold hands man," and all the other sunshine gay bs that flies around here. no disrespect to you, i understand you're just doing your job. i'm just saying that babysitting grown men on internet forums is gay.

Fair enough. But I do feel you are missing one important aspect of an enthusiast website. Communication. You don't leave much room for a two way discussion. You also seem to be oblivious to how your comments can derail a thread into off topic land.

I checked a few of your recent posts and many are sarcastic with little contribution to the topic. I'm not telling you to change you style or your view of the world, just respect our rules. If you can't then don't post. Thanks.

If you can't make a counter point without bashing, name calling or really getting in someone's face with over the top language (and I've been guilty of that at least once), then you probably don't have a valid argument or aren't literate enough to explain yourself to others and thus shouldn't post. No one is saying you can't disagree, just don't be a d*ck about it. That's not a personal attack on you ODUB, just a general observation. I can't recall offhand any of your posts that really stood out for being "in your face". But I'm senile.

Can we add "me too" posts as helping to bring down the overall readability of this forum? Does anyone else get tired of reading through 18 pages of worthless posts in a thread to find pertinent information?

It scares me to think I share this board with 11-year-olds who don't even own a car.

The whole purpose of the boards is to provide a community of Evo/Lancer owners. It's meant to be productive - to produce something. The issue probably boils down to maturity levels of the members - some are more serious than others, some are older than others. That's understood, but the crap can get in the way of the usefulness of the boards. Speaking your mind is great as long as it serves a purpose. Calling someone, or something, 'gay' really doesn't add to the body of knowledge on here. Being 'in your face' never really accomplishes anything in real life, so why would it be different here? I fully understand that it's difficult to add to the usefulness of this board - it requires effort. "Effort" doesn't always equal "fun", but that's the cost for creating something of value.

i guess i should go read the rules, because i've never seen'em haha there's not much room for a two way discussion because this isn't a conversation with anyone in particular. it's just a statement based on what i read before i posted. this is a bulletin board, not an IM window. i'm communicating my feelings on this thread, just like everyone else. i wouldn't say i'm oblivious to anything that goes on, or anything i post. it's more a matter of me just not caring. i'll try to be more sensitive to the...hang on, let me get this out with a str8 face....feelings of the other people on this board from now on. i'm really not trying to cause any trouble, i'm just not used to people being this damn weak and touchy to everything. i'm not used to having to walk on eggshells when i talk. i'm used to just stomping around in my size 14's, and having everybody else do the same. but just because you asked so nicely, i'll try.

but i still say this whole thread is a testament to the fact that you guys have too much time on your hands and take this board way too seriously lol which is what i said in my original masterpiece of a post which was deleted making my subsequent posts make no sense because they were extensions of the first one...but i'm not bitter

Dudes and Dudettes....Ive been itching to say this, and woke up in a great mood SO I'll say it....

"Go GET EM SPEED!"

odub, I have to say that I respect your candor. However, with the way this board has become, its not welcome anymore. And I will give you the reason why....

We are here to share knowledge, be critics, supportive, informative and constructive as to promote the industry and get ourselves AWAY from the "stupid ricer" tag we all have and hate.

Newbie: "I want to get a BOV, Buschur Exhaust, BIG FMIC and a Body kit"

Butthole: Response #1: "Dude, BOV's are for ricers, BIG FMIC's are worthless on a stock turbo and body kits look ugly.Buschur SUCKS, buy TurboTrix"

Modified Butthole Response#1: "I advise against these mods just yet. A good MBC will help, and AFC or reflash is better spent. FMICS dont benefits stock turbos and Buschur racing is a good tuner, pick whats best for you...I personally dont like them (just for the sake of literary finger pointing, not my actual opinion)

There is a dramatic difference in the maturity and thought put into a post like that.

Censorship for this stuff on SOMEONE ELSES PROPERTY IS THE ONLY KEY. I respect them, maybe everyone eles should try to.

yet another point addressed in detail in my original censored post...
because im still buzzing from last night and cant sleep haha and i completely agree with you about the butthole responses. i'm not talking about that at all. every time i've ever gotten banned from one of these sites it's been because i don't tolerate the butthole posts

example... i once asked on a honda board if anyone had put the 7th gen V6 engine into a 6th gen accord...the first response was, buy a 7th gen and get a supercharger.... wtf did that have to do with my question? i kept getting responses like that, so i finally "handled" all the pointless posts because the moderators wouldn't do ****. until i handled it that is. i shut down the morons and get the thread back on track, then get banned for it. that's already happened to me once on this site too. that's my hang up about all of this. they never catch what started the trouble. somebody starts some **** on a thread, i shut them up, they cry to the mods, then i get told i was "too harsh." that's bull****. everybody says "don't post unless you can take the responses." that should flow both ways. if i post, i don't mind anybody saying anything about what i posted, just be ready for me to post back.

ODUB I have seen your posts and threads. Your belligerent posts quickly change whatever the topic of the original thread was into a thread about you and your belligerent posts... Much like this one.

yeah...that's what i do lol. no, what always happens is i make a thread, it goes fine, somebody says something i don't like, i shut them up, then everybody jumps on me because i'm too mean, or what the hell ever, and when most people just let it go, i keep arguing back. if people like you would just leave me alone in the first place, these things wouldn't happen.

i like this board, and i like the mods. the only thing i think they could do better is catch the original instigator before he blows a thread up instead of only getting the guy who retaliates. cuz that guy is just trying to save his thread from the hoards of ignorant children running around this site with nothing better to do than annoy people until mommy gets home to change their diapers and put them to bed.

why are things the way they are? because that's life. deal with it.
