its been asked before, and it is because when they moderate they want to find the source of the problem if a thread goes bad, you cant find the orginal post if its been deleted

Users used to be able to delete their own posts. People were deleting the first posts in threads, making the rest of many of the threads pointless. Some spiteful people got pissed and deleted important information they had previously posted in tech threads, and also some people deleted posts that otherwise may have gotten them in trouble. Of course they can still edit to do the latter, but it seems a lot of people still haven't caught on to that. I don't know what it's like under vB3.0 because I wasn't on staff long after the upgrade, but I don't think I could see deleted posts when I was on staff. Neat feature though.

It requires 2 characters to post, IIRC

IF you delete thee first post of the thread, it deletes the thread.

We can view deleted posts in areas we have power, but if you move it to the moderation queue, you can't.

yeh, because the super moderator made it where moderators can't permanantly delete the posts. so the super moderator or the admin could review what was deleted, or other moderators moderating moderators.

lol

Ok, so I requested a thread to be deleted, I don't think it has. What gives?

We can delete posts permanently if we want, it is just an extra step.

99% of the time, admins and super mods will supports action taken by the moderators... thus whyt we have the jobs to begin with.

Only an Admin can do that. Super Mods can't change clearances last I checked.
