Im not sure why this still has not been done but what would the problems be with an advanced users section? You could do it in a variety of ways but I would say the "Evolved Members" should be able to view the forums and threads there but not post. Make it an invite only type user group that can post there. All paying vendors obviously get in, the "Guru's" and then whomever else you choose to be allowed. You could allow Moderators to grant access or not.

In this section you should have a few sections and not police it.... or at least not much. If people decide they want to complain about what is being written on there, you can simply remove thier access to that section.

The biggest reason I think now is a good time for you do something like this is because alot of people are going to start checking other sites for the true info on many topics because they are being moderated so hard on this site. I agree that for many new comers they should not have to read the bickering and fighting but at the same time I believe the people that have been around awhile, the guru's and other advanced users should be able to read about bad quality parts, tuners mistakes, etc...

Take it for what its worth but I believe alot of people will start reading in other sites simply because they want to know whats "really going on". By making this section invite only it will ensure that there are no complaints. If someone thinks someone is being unfair they can just not go there or ask to change thier usergroup back to a normal user. I dont know the specifics of how you would like it done but this should be considered.

It's been suggested before.

The problem is that the gurus and long time members provide the majority of the good information on this site, and removing that content from the open section of the forum is a huge disservice to new members, guests, and other people who don't have access to that area.

An advanced section is in the works. With some of the other stuff going on the site, I haven't had the time to put a lot of work into it. After this month I should be able to dedicate a good amount of time and thought into it so we can seperate the more advanced topics from the general topics. The idea is to give new users a place to further their knowledge and to give advanced users an outlet to share knowledge.
