Thumbs down Ultimate Racing banner ad (side of page)

I just logged on and there's a new banner ad on the right side of the page (currently for "Ultimate Racing"). The horizontal banner ads on top don't bother me, and I even click them once in a while (although since I'm Lancer/Evo-less they don't appeal much to me). The one on the side is annoying, though - it reduces the page width by about 15-20%, and threads can't fill in around it lower on the page...

I don't mind it on the title page or thread listing, but in the actual threads?

I'm so glad our forum is getting a lot attention. But I agree on the space, I like having room to read/write on the forum.

I noticed that myself, I find it odd too.

But whatever it takes to help Mark keep the site up and getting better servers, etc, is all good. It dosent bother me too terribly much. As long as he dosent resort to pop up ads.

Billy I totally agree, Mark the side banner sucks. That is the first thing I noticed, it causes word wrap in thread titles when I never get that. I know that you can find another place to put it please.

It should be a little better right now for those on 800x600. We won't be running any pop up ads ever. Is it any better for you guys?

Mark -

It's not the ad that bugs me, just the placement. I want this site to stick around as much as you do, so I have no problem with you displaying ads to generate revenue. Personally, I would rather see the ad either at the top or bottom of the page. While I run 1280x960, my IE windows are typically more along the lines of 800x600, just so I can click on my work (which is maximized in the background). Towards the bottom of long threads (more than a page or two in length), it just feels like a lot of space is being "wasted".

If you want to keep the placement, could you not have it in the actual threads (just in the forum/thread listing)?

Sorry Mark, but I don't like it either. Even with 1600x1200, in order to see most of the lines, IE window covers 2/3 of my screen. Bad place to be

I wouldn't mind another one on the top, since we can always scroll down, but there on the side...

Oh well!

I'm gonna work on having it removed from thread pages so it's not intruding on the discussions.

Rock on Mark

You should set up a PayPal Donation account. I would like to donate $50 to keep this site running. Hell... I'll donate $100 when my paycheck comes in!
