for sale forums

I understand that the ra vs thread was recently deleted b/c of the street racing involved in most posts.

On this line of thinking I would imagine that the ra for sale thread has been deleted due to the fact that there is already a for sale forum.

I think that we need the RA for sale forum because of the large amount of clutter involved in the generic for sale thread. we all want to find cheap parts for our car, but there are more posts in the for sale thread than anyone could ever read.

I would greatly appreciate it if the mods and admin of EvoM would consider putting a private for sale forum in each type of lancer forum. This would save the regular lancer guys from sorting through 100+ posts of evo stuff when they need to see whats up for sale. Same thing for the evo guys. If you are looking for parts you want to see whats available for your car, not someone elses.

I understand administration of a site this large is time consuming and sometimes costly, but you have to see the reasoning behind this. If you ever wanted to buy something for your car and looked at the for sale thread you know exactly what I am talking about.

Thanks for reading this,
Daniel

It sounds reasonable and I will look into it. I need to finish up some backlog work on the site and then I can focus on this to see if it'll work.
Thanks

Daniel - I have the one question that always sinks this request.

What if I want to sell a universal part?

Let's say I have a gauge for sale. Or let's say I'm shopping for a gauge. Do I have to post/check the Evo section, the RA section, and the Lancer section? Or do we have a section for universal parts?

That's going to be a concern. Something to think about...

i think its best to have a universal for sale forum for reasons stated by DJ... it makes more sense given the compatibility between lancers and EVOs. i often find myself looking through evo and raiart part outs...

i would however like the fifty post rule to be honered and monitored more frequently.. we have a bunch of threads always popping up with people posting in normal tuner forums or general discussion wanting a part or selling one and they are trying to circumvent the rule.

Well, we can't be everywhere at all times. If the members would simply provide us with a heads up, we'll gladly root out that seed.

I agree totally. Would it make sense to have a for sale forum, with sub forums for each vehicle type, a general/universal, and then whatever the admins feel necessary such as drivetrain or power in the individual vehicle sub-forums? I know that this will take some time and planning, but in the end it will be cleaner and more useful to all users.

FOR SALE
Evo
Power
Drivetrain
Etc
Lancer
Power
Drivetrain
Etc
RA
Power
Drivetrain
Etc
General/Universal
Power
Drivetrain
Etc

Two admins and a mod have been here and the thread is not closed. I am pleased that you are taking this into consideration and would like you to know this.

I would also like to suggest that all previous for sale threads in the current for sale forum be lumped into the generic/universal thread in order to make the transition easier. That is unless you would delete or sort(yeah right) the old posts.

If you do decide to reformat the for sale forum I want to make it perfectly clear that I don't care how it's done, even if you only have four subforums, Lancer, RA, Evo, and generic/universal. From there I am sure that we can all use the search function. Obviously the more subforums the easier it will be to locate or sell an item, but if it's going to kill the idea I would rather it be simple for you to do it rather than see it as too much of a hassle.

The only negative I can see coming from this idea is the fact that some people would abuse the subforums and their item in all of them. There are two ways I see to at least slow this. One would be to assign a daily post limitation in these forums. Sum total of one post per day in any of the subforums of the for sale directory, period. In other words if you have a part for an Evo and a part for an RA then you can post only one of those in a 24 hour period. The second option that I see, and there are probably more since I don't have perfect vision, is to enforce a duplicate post rule. If you post the same item in more than one subforum of the for sale directory (and it is noticed/caught/reported) then ALL of the duplicate posts will be removed and you will be warned/banned/restricted from posting in for sale/etc.

Both of these rules seem rather strict, but I go back to one of the first points I made. Who wants to search through 200 posts of parts for sale for someones elses car?

Took the words right out of my mouth. More than a "hassle," don't you think?

Don't worry about the archaic posts from a year or two ago, that can be pruned quickly. As for the overall suggestion, we're discussing it and will more than likely be implemented (with hopefully a better solution to the universal parts aspect). But don't quote me on that.

Closed.
