Constitutional rights are not guaranteed on a private forum.
Interesting point, look at my statement in this other thread on a similar issue... And Oh it was made at 11:46

In case anyone is curious, this is the guy who started the troll - looking for a fight - that was deleted (a shame).

Again, this is a matter for the admins to handle and I look forward to their comments. Please don't clutter this discussion with obfuscatory drivel.
The post you quoted was not directed at you, it was directed at newimportowner. I have nothing to say to you except the fact that you waste all our time with your own "obfuscatory drivel".

Please read the whole thread. He was the main instigator, and it was not the first time, not was it the second, third or forth, etc. I'd truly appreciate it if my points were addressed directly.

Thank you.
My emphasis, and the area where there seems to be some confusion. Thread boils down as follows:

User Kordyte says he's young and has an Evo.
User FJF replies he's old enough to be Kordyte's father.
User shvc1991 replies with Star Wars reference to Darth Vader being Luke's father.
FJF repies "Do you want me to flame you? Or, can a thread possibly survive without you painting a target on your chest?"

I saw the thread at this point and thought little of it (actually commenting on an OT n00b flame war), but your post was very definitely the start of the mess. I came back a few hours later to find about 30 posts from you degrading the intelligence of every person who posted in the thread (all of whom were, from my perspective, posting jokes about various things). I read through it start to finish, and didn't care for the tone or nature of your banter. I never got the sense you were joking around or having fun - in fact, I got the distinct impression you were slamming everyone you could. There are other threads in OT where you post in a similar manner.

I had a PM discussion with shvc and he knows not to get into it with you or anyone else. Your PM to me gives me the impression you have no intention of changing your ways.

I have no problem taking full responsibility for my actions, but I do have two questions:

1. Why is a mod allowed to post crass insults and then award points to someone who supposedly did the same thing?

I said "supposedly," because profanity never entered the picture until he came along.

2. How am I a troll when I replied to a post aimed at me, written by someone who has a history of picking fights with yours truly? The same goes for the other messages.

Here is WestSideBilly's PM quoted verbatim:

As I mentioned in my response to his note, I have nothing against other user(s). From my POV, we were just having some fun. Unless something changed the concept of a discussion forum, responding to a direct comment is the nature of the beast.

WestSideBilly wrote, "3 pages of attacking anyone who posted in a thread?" Clearly, "anyone" must be a code word for folks who decided to enter the flame war with comments of their own. This is a matter of record.

Can someone please explain to me why a mod is allowed to shoot profane insults and then close the thread, while others are not allowed to speak freely?

Thank you in advance for the kind consideration.

Edit: if you'd like to read my reply to WestSideBilly's PM, I can post it, as well.
As for this, the OTers (including the mods) have a bit of a sense of humor for most things. I had a PM half written before you posted this explaining that the first and even second posts were no big deal - actually funny in a British dry humor sense. But 3 pages of it is not mature and it won't be tolerated, even in OT. I'll be the first to admit that my post to end that thread wasn't the most appropriate, but it hopefully got the message across not just to you but to everyone else who was reading it. I'm not sure that "********" would fall into the territory of profane insults, but as Ali noted, that is somewhat subjective. Apologies for that.

And, honestly, I think you do have something against some of the OTers, or at the very least think of them as inferior. As mentioned, there is a distinct air of superiority in your OT posts.

I'm going to reread the thread later but I don't think my view of it will change.

I think the admins are opening up a HUGE can of worms here with the limitations set on what you can say, or how you go about saying it, or more importantly how someone interpets your words....online. I dont know.
The limitations haven't changed. Repeatedly telling someone, in no uncertain terms, that they are stupid was never allowed. This system merely makes the system less prone to error or miscommunication, and likewise a bit less subjective (although the users who get infractions will never agree with that).

My point was more about the "how its interpeted" as your previous post stated you felt the words dick head was not vulgur? what is it then if its not vulgur? thats my interpetation of it, and thats all my point is about. I generally stay clear of trouble except for the silly night I got all pissed up and posted a pics of some nudes in a local forum. other than that i could give a rip, but it seems as if this is becoming ridiculous is all. hey thats my interpetation i guess.

This whole incidence would not have occurred if an oh so serious person had not wandered into the depths of OT and caused problems with other members.

Alright guys this is getting a little out of hand. I think WSB addressed the issue and apologized for the comments he made. I'm hope this doesn't happen again.
