A Plea To the Moderators

A big problem I have had with this site is the difficulty searching threads. For example the "View New Posts" features yields numerous Lancer/OZ Rally threads that I have absolutely no interest in. Furthermore, the moving of numerous threads out of EVO General into other EVO sections and much worse the moving of threads to Lancer threads is making this site very difficult to manuever through.

Perhaps a seperate EVO site is needed or at a minimum a much better seperation of EVO and other Lancer threads. I'm sure this thread will get moved!

Moving to site suggestions/feedback. You can separate the threads in your evolutionm. Check through your user options.

As for moved threads, it's pretty common people post in the wrong forum for one reason or another. Sometimes mods feel the need to leave a redirect, other times they don't. Several moderators have been chewed out for not leaving redirects so they do it now out of habit (it also happens to be our default). We can't please everyone either way so we try to do our best to keep as many people happy as possible.

I respectfully disagree in regards to thread locations. I see no reason why an EVO thread should be moved to a location with 100 other threads that are all lancer threads. Also, if many EVO threads will have to be posted in 1,000 different locations (filled with Lancer threads BTW), its a nightmare to scan through this site. Several people from this board have made this same comment.

The EVO and all other Lancers are so different that they should be more clearly seperated on this site.

Well, the whole thing is the issue of "superiority". If you give the Evo people a new site, then the Lancer people are going to get upset cuz they think that they are no longer a part of the Lancer community anymore. If we kick the Lancer community out of this site just cuz the Evo community is overwhelming it, same deal. I myself think that the 2 types of threads are as seperated as they can be. Granted there may be some threads mixed in with each other, but mods are here to make sure that everything is in it's spot. Also if you are looking for something in specific, the search function is VERY handy in completing that task. If you and those other members feel strongly enough about having a seperate site for the Evo community, then feel free to start one. Im just trying to say that Mark (KK) and other mods are trying their hardest to keep this site organized and running efficiently. I hope your concerns are resolved with my post.

have you considered looking at the evo sections indivitually with the FORUM JUMP option? For instance, Evo Troubleshooting, Evo Tires, Evo etc. Regular lancers dont usually post their issues there.

Where are the Evolution and Lancer threads mixed? Maybe I'm having a memory lapse, but I'm pretty sure everything's pretty well separated. I can't think of any forums that mix Evo and Lancer aside from OT and the newbie forum...neither of which is really car related.

As for differences in the cars, yes they are mechanically different, but electrically and appearance wise they're still quite similar.

Sure do. However, a lot of posts get moved to other areas where there are mixtures and people will have to post there in the future for some EVO threads. Its just very time consuming sifting and sorting through a lot of unnecessary information.

BTW...no flames intended for other regular or OZ Rally Lancers.

I forgot audio and security. That's not separated, but (like I said) there are almost no differences in our electrical systems.

Regional talk (i.e EVO relating the northeast), EVO Vs. Other Cars, EVO Misc. (sometimes moved to Off-Topic). There are others, but those are that come to mind immediately.

Regional aren't car specific either. They aren't really meant to be. Other cars don't really have to do with either Lancers OR Evos, and OT doesn't even have to do with cars at all really.

Personally I see absolutely no reason to separate the forums mentioned, but really it's all up to Mark.

The only thing I find annoying is the "View New Posts" search, which doesn't seem to filter anything out. You get everything, even Off Topic, but even that is much faster (at least 20x) than wading through the forums one by one.

Other than that one particular instance, the forums are completely separate between the Evo and the Lancer.
I agree with Hobie that things like other cars, regional forums etc should not be car specific. Remember probably 40% or more of our members dont even own a Lancer or Evo.

A lot of the times when a thread get moved, it is because of the current content of the thread being so off topic/turned into a flame war.

I have seen it for many many time... EVO vs other car turned into a pissing contest and people flaming each other. As a mod we work collectively to move/trash this type of thread.

Other incident includes someone asked a valid, EVO-related Technical question in the EVO Tech forum. It was answered/not answered; however, people start talking about how cool the EVO is...and then go way way OT in this. Should we keep that in the Tech forum with 3-4 useful post out of a 50-60 posts thread?

My point is that there is limitation in our effort/judgement. We are human and we can only do so much...I can say we collectively tried our best to keep this going as smooth as it can be.

Cheers

Geez, no one noticed that HobieKopek moved this thread 1 minute after he posted it.

I originally psoted it in the EVO General section so the EVO owners could see it (the ones who this affects mostly), but it was moved without a redirect?? So far, we are mostly getting moderators replying, does anyone else look at this section???????
This is an example of the problem because people don't have all day to sift through a million different sections.
