You really need to start removing/banning posts that contain the phrases rice and ricer. These are highly insulting to the Asian community and quite disgusting. Imagine if you will calling someone who drives a hooked up caddy a watermelloner, or gee that suburban sure is all fried chicken'd up! You wouldn't say "Hey look at that beaner in that prelude" would you, or his car is dorito'd. You get my drift. It is completely ignorant, and degrading. This is an awesome site, without these comments, it would be perfect.

Funny, I'm Asian myself, but I don't take offense at the word Ricer. I also don't think the word "ricer" is racists at all. It doesn't even point specifically to the Asian community itself, but it's targeted at cars that are called "ricey" IMO. If you happen to be driving that "ricey" car then you just might be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Of course that's just me and everybody else is different.

 

Although its less common since so few have Italian supercars I've heard of them referred to as pasta rockets before, and as an italian myself by your thinking it shoulder bother me. Riceburner, Ricerocket, pasta rocket are all descriptions of foreign cars usually by Americans which IMO are pretty harmless.

 

yeah. whenever someone says rice, i don't think of asians, i think of some hidious civic with too many decals and those washer nozzle lights. and in most of my experiences, the guys driving them are white.

besides, there are other terms. like "ghetto-fabulous". you know, $500 pos 1980s caddy with $3000 spinning chrome rims. instead of rice, should we call it "orient-fabulous" instead?

 

Highly unlikely that this is going to happen unless Mark wants us to go on a crusade. Too many posts, too much content, and hardly anyone complains.

I'm asian/(pacific islander). i don't think the term rice is racist much .. if at all. i've never heard it used to put down a race of people ... just cars that look ridiculous.
