EvoM loading slow

Ive noticed this ever since they redid the graphics with the red stuff. I think it looks good and everything but it takes a few seconds longer than it should to load. It use to be almost instant loading. I have a cable modem, 1.7 P4, and a gig of ram. So i dont think my computer is the problem. I used to go look through all the forums just to see what people were saying but it takes so long to load that i just stay at the main page to see the new post. Anyone else having this problem or any suggestion? Also my computer has a fresh copy of XP on it. And the latest IE.

It can take forever to load here at work over T1, but that's due to my firewall.

Let me ask you this: Are you paying for EvoM?

This site is run by Mark out of pocket with help from the sponsors, but it's not cheap to have a system this large with well over 10,000 members.

I noticed that the latest redesign affected performance in a negative fashion. I am willing to wait an extra minute for the site to load, since it's a useful tool, and it's not costing me anything.

Maybe a lite version without the fancy images and stuff would help, but that would require more space on the server, not to mention the time and effort to put it all together.

I love this site, ever since I joined Lancerforums. I'm just glad this site is going strong.

Hey we joined like a day apart from each other. So we both know how it used to run. I know that its a free service and everything and that makes me happy. I think having a lite version of the site would be a very good idea. Man if I was mark id have everyone pay like a buck or 2 for a year. That can add up to a lot of extra money for him.

He's not looking to make a profit. You honestly think 14,000+ people would sign up if it cost $0.01, much less $2.00? Once you have to pay, things become prohibitive. Anyway...no load time problems for me. May be a bandwidth issue for you. Try a speedtest on your cable. You may just be in a busy cluster.

I recreated the old look we had, which should be less graphic intensive. You can select it from the options section of the usercp. It's called "56K Friendly".
