Membership Idea

I've been a long time member on e46fanatics.com, one of the features they have is a membership.

People pay a small amount and become a member of the forum for 6 months at a time and they receive a few benefits, of the top of my head:

- larger message inbox
- different colored user ID name on the forums
- private members only forum

In return, the site gets a little bit extra funding to help with the operating costs. The benefits aren't that much but alot of users would be willing to pay a small amount to keep this site running well.

Just an idea

It is completely your choice if you want to be a member or not. Oh well, just a suggestion

This idea has come up a lot of times and the answer has always been no... everyone here are enthusiasts and we are all equal.

Also, EvoM doesn't allow illegal activities or pornography, which from another forum I post on, usually happens in the 'private members only' section.

Sorry...I don't like it. Like Robert said, this has come up before and we've not decided to go this route. I don't see this as a needed or wanted option at this time.

First off, this. The whole vision of EvoM, which has continued on with the new owners, is that it's a site/business that's 100% free to all users, and is fully supported by vendors and advertising. The site is profitable (AFAIK, at least) and has no need for extra revenue.

However, if a pay membership option meant the mod staff could start getting a paycheck, then I'd be all for it.

I can just see it creating more problems than it's worth, the paying members would start to expect special treatment since in their head they'd be paying for the site.
