OK thanks. But really, banning a guy is nothing more than blocking that particular userid.
There really isn't much you can do to stop a banned person from just getting another is there??
Particularly if they come back and change their writing style so no pattern is picked up.
E-Mail ban will cause them to have to go get a new e-mail address, and if you choose not to allow e-mails from free providers then that can be a hassle. Then there's the IP ban which is also possible to circumnavigate, but it's also a hassle. I'm an admin on a Ford board and the truth is that, if someone insists on being a problem, there's not really much you can to do keep them out.

Haha, I got a warning for calling someone an idiot and the very next day Timzcat called me one. A few days after that he was a mod. Go figure.

Please understand I meant that with all sincerity, MP5. (what's your name btw? ...I feel silly calling you a sub machine gun )

If you feel someone else is getting by when you shouldn't be, feel free to report posts or notify a staff member. It can be difficult at times, but we do try to enforce evenly across the board. Unless that's a second user name or unless it was an unofficial warning (which kinda obviously doesn't lead to a banning but does mean you'll likely get a warning next time) you didn't get warned, UFO. Or at least...you have no warnings.

In the case of most warning bans we do not find it necessary to use e-mail or IP bans. For the most part losing a username seems to be punishment enough. Obviously we do not encourage making new usernames and causing more problems, but we're not above giving second chances for the most part. There are exceptions where particularly troublesome members (and this is VERY rare) have been delt with more harshly, but (again) that is not standard procedure. Like UFO said, if someone really wants to post it's difficult to stop them. The most we try to do is discourage.

Anyway, always trying to help. I think we're steering a bit off topic, but I'd be more than happy to discuss this with any of you in PMs, another thread, or on AIM.

I think the post was made before he became a mod according to UFO's explaination. He would still have been a regular "evolving member" at that point. At any rate, if you feel a moderator is not doing his or her job properly, please try to work it out with them. If not, bring it to Paul, KK or myself. I think Mark would appreciate it if you came to Paul or me first though just to facilitate things, and if we come to an impass (which is pretty unlikely) then we can take it up to the big man himself.
