Increasing the Avatar size?

Would it be possible to increase the Personal Avartar kB size to twice of what it is now. I have been trying to shrink some pics that I have to the max size in kB and I can't seem to get them small enough to work.

Thanks,
Barry

They're this small to keep down file sizes on the server and so that dialup users don't have problems with page load times. I doubt they're going to get bigger, but really it is up to Mark.

I see no reason. There are supposed to just be little pictures for fun. You may want to try saving them in a lower resolution to lower the amount of memory and make it useable.

That's not the real issue. Server space costs money. Mark already has 13,782 members running around with avatars of a generous size (i can't recall the actual limit), and to increase this limit would cause a pretty fair strain on the available space. Remember, this isn't a business; Mark does this in his spare time with his own money. I don't think he's going to feel any great need to shell out extra money just so everyone can upload a marginally larger avatar.
