The site owners (Internet Brands) have declined installing Tapatalk because they didn't like that the users would get charged for accessing it. They instead developed the mobile version of the site that we have now.

Already a big thread on this. I'm personally against it though, Its very annoying to have that pop-up keep showing up and I don't like tapatalk's format. Would rather just run full browser.

The reason is exactly what I stated. Nobody likes a troll.

I hadn't considered the sponsorship and business end of the issue. I also seem to have a problem staying logged in so when I'm in full browser every time I navigate to a new page I'm logged out. Oh well, thanks tho.

Hopefully I am not beating a dead horse, but I was wondering, are there any updates here?

I really like the mobile site, but here are a few issues that I am having:
  • iPhone doesn't always use the mobile site - If you click a link from the mobile site, it will often open in the full site which can take a while to load and cost a lot of money for those of us with data plans.
  • Posting with any formatting is difficult (if not impossible) in the mobile site
  • It is impossible to upload photos with the mobile site. Since most of us use our phones to snap pictures, this means emailing the pictures to yourself, finding a computer, and then uploading them to the post. As you are probably aware, tapatalk can easily upload pictures (either forum hosted or tapatalk hosted).

The first point is probably the biggest nuisance for me - Is there any way that a Goto mobile site button could be added? Is there any trick to manipulate the URL that I should be aware of to find the mobile version of a thread if you are on the full site?

I think the site would have much better threads and more user submitted write ups if Tapatalk were used given how easy it is to upload pictures from the same device you're using to take the pictures. Pictures are extremely helpful to diagnose a problem, or illustrate a how-to article, so it goes without saying that the easier they are to upload, the more useful this forum will be!

FYI, here is another (older) thread on this if anyone is interested.

I think tapatalk has come a long way, so I was wondering if it were worth reevaluating?

Thanks for considering this!!!

Below is some info that I grabbed from the Tapatalk site. It's a bit like an ad, but I thought it would be helpful for those who haven't heard about it:

Tapatalk is a forum app on the iPhone, Android, webOS, Windows Phone 7 and BlackBerry. Tapatalk Forum App provides super fast on-the-go forum access to majority of the discussion forums that has activated the Tapatalk plugin.

The primary issue with Tapatalk hasn't changed - it costs the users money. The owners want to keep EvoM 100% free for all users.

Im sure most people who have tapatalk are members on multiple forums...such as myself. I use it all the time and i find it much easier to navigate a forum using it on my android phone (Tmo G2).

I use tapatalk as well on multiple forums and love it. I agree with not forcing users to pay for an app but I don't see why the plugin can't be installed so the users that want to use the app can do so.

Honestly, I agree with you, but it's not my call, it's up to Internet Brands. Something else that is probably a consideration of theirs is that they're incredibly cautious when it comes to giving third party software access to the EvoM database. It's a massive database on a site with a huge level of traffic and even the smallest issues can have a massive impact.
