Moderators CANNOT moderate...

This is the whole reason I am not touching this thread. If I kill it, there will only be another. If I warn someone they will only cry about it in Site suggestions and feedback. You can't win. It's the same people every time. This was Buschur's thread and therefore everyone who is not adding to it should have stayed out of it.

This whole problem will require some rule changes and/or stern action which I have no input to, so for now I am staying out of it.
and timzcat is one of the best from what I have seen...

I added the bold. Moderators cannot moderate. Sad Mark, really, REALLY SAD!

Well, the situation is not the way you have interpreted it to be. Actually Mark discusses things with us, asking for our input and opinions before ever do anything. We are also free to give our input on things we feel need to change. I have been very impressed by Mark in this.

A problem arises however when a situation develops that is serious but we do not have a very well defined policy or procedure on how to deal with it. In a case like this we step back so as not to make the situation worse, until we can discuss things with Mark and figure out what to do. Situations like that can be frustrating to us as we at the time feel powerless to do anything and really want to fix things now. I believe timzcat was expressing himself in this kind of a frustration as I share it with him. This is not however a result of Mark not listening to us but rather a result of Mark not being around right now.

I would imagine that part of the seriousness of the problem is that Dynoflash is currently banned from doing business on this forum but now seens to have found a backdoor way back into selling his product on this forum through Buscher. The ECUs are not going to be shipped to Buscher, but straight to Al. David B. even said that he is even going to leave pricing to Al. Thats got to be kind of close to pushing the limits of his ban. Personally, I'll accept any decision by Mark. It isn't really a bign deal to me as long as Al doesn't go back to his old ways.

We're actually assessing the situation and coming up with some rules and methods to solve them the best we can. I hope understand that moderators get a lot of flack on auto sites (especially this one) and do this out of their own good intentions for the community. Sometimes frustrations show a little more than usual, although I don't think it went WAY over the line in this case.

My goal right now is to try and restore some peace and quiet so the mods can relax a little

I respect that , however I think I speak for alot of folks when I say you guys are partially to blame for it because of the percieved favoritsm. I know for a fact that I am not the one that thinks that Vishnu and SHIV get preferential treatment. He geta away with alot of the same things AL got hammered for. Look at the Buschur Flash thread. He came out and bascially started the flaming!

Smogrunner, WTF does this have ANYTHING to do with my original comment and subject matter of THIS particular thread? This is exactly what I am hoping mods will be able to put an end to! You want to tell the world how you feel about Al and Buschur - START YOUR OWN ****ING THREAD!

I voiced my concern and evo_dan confirmed that there are situations where mods cannot act quickly enough to contain a potentially out-of-hand situation - LIKE THE ONE YOU ARE TRYING TO START RIGHT NOW, YOU ****HEAD! I know I will probably get a warning for this one, but this is REALLY ridiculous!

And I do believe Mark will come up with a viable solution. Thanks Mark for taking the time to address my concerns.

All vendors will be held to the same standards and we're working on some rules to help improve the flow of the site. There's gonna be a learning curve in the process, but eventually it will get there

vr430, while you may not agree with what was said, there are much better ways to express yourself through pms, notifying a moderator, etc. Please do not use insults and bring on any flames.

Thanks,

Mark

Please don't worry about other board members. If he was (or wasn't) warned, that is for Shiv to tell, not for us.

I'm not sure what you are alluding to? We don't usually go around pointing out who got warned and who didn't. If you want to know if Shiv got warned, ask him.

There is no favoritism going on here, contrary to what a few people are saying. Before we disassociated ourselves from Dynoflash, people thought we were favoring him because he offered free flashes to site staff. Now that Dynoflash is gone, people think we are favoring Shiv because he is still a vendor in good standing on this site. You can't have it both ways.

I just wish people would wait till they knew what they were talking about before they started complaining.

SC~

I don't think you guys get it.

Shiv started a flame war.
Al got banned.

This basically communicates that if you're a paying vendor, you can stir up the **** all you like and not have to worry about the consequences.

If that's the kind of site this is going to be, I think you've already noticed reduced board traffic the past week or so and this trend will continue, I hope, until you get the picture.

I started THIS particular thread because I saw an instance where a thread went to **** - [bold] in my opinion [/bold] - due to luck of proper attention from moderators, which was further collaborated by timzcat's comment quoted at the beginning. It has NOTHING to do with the actual subject matter of the "****" thread but all about the lack of perceived moderator power to intervene in a timely manner to keep this board civil.

Mods and Mark came on and offered that they are working on improving the process. I am willing to give them a benefit of the doubt - time will definitely tell if they have succeeded or not.

Once again, this thread is NOT about the subject matter of any other particular thread, but what Mark and Mods are doing to improve the quality of the board. And, for people to voice suggestions on how to improve things...

I think the mods have been doing a good job cracking down on bull**** lately. I've noticed a lot more people being "In Timeout" and "Banned" and so forth. That's a good start.
