What makes you think that those 2 things (shiv starting a war/Al being banned) are at all related to each other? Dynoflash was not banned just because of one incidence of starting a flamewar. He was not banned just because of his less than professional attitude. He was not banned just because he had multiple user names on this forum which he used to push his products. He was banned for continuing to indulge in these activities after he was formally and informally asked to stop on a multiple occasions.
I thought it was common knowledge that both Shiv and Dynoflash were vendors who pay for the ability to sell on this site. So I am not sure how your argument, "This basically communicates that if you're a paying vendor, you can stir up the **** all you like and not have to worry about the consequences." has any meaning here. Since we did actually ban one of them for issues outlined above. This shows our willingness to get rid of Vendors who cause too much trouble.
"....I think you've already noticed reduced board traffic the past week or so and this trend will continue, I hope, until you get the picture." Actually January looks to be one of the higher traffic months we have in the past year. Here is the source of my facts... http://webstats.evolutionm.net/usage_200401.html
From what source are you getting your 'fact' that traffic is decreasing?
We have put up with a lot of bs over the past few months from a few avenues. We are currently putting together some process and documentation that will allow us to better enforce site rules and regulations. ie...ALL trouble causers will be out the door in an expedited fashion unless they are willing to follow the site rules.

The only reason that this forum doesnt have a high Moderator turnover rate is because we are truly devoted to our work and we want the best for all our members. Though there will be a few unsatisfied members, we cannot please everyone at the same time. It really upsets us when members lash out at us because they believe we aren't trying to do anything when we really are trying our hardest. Like most of you guys, us moderators also have lives away from the board... we cannot be around here 24/7 monitoring each and every single move all our members make. Also, the accusations against us that Vendors bribe us with free products or mad discounts is not true one bit. As moderators we are not compensated for what we do. We only do this from our will to volunteer. The money that is collected from the Vendors go straight back into the site for a better server, new site design, and even more bandwidth. Some of that money also goes to the Evolutionm.net store that sells the decals and all those other goodies.
Another thing that troubles me is that people dont understand the reason Al was banned but Shiv wasnt. It isnt the constant flame wars that go on between the 2 that got Al banned... it's his business etiquette. Al was always unprofessional with his attitude toward other vendors and he was also using multiple usernames (yes we matched their IP's with his) to push his products. We (the moderators) have infomally warned him too many times to count, and he still would not desist his unprofessional business conduct. Thus we all came to a consensus to have his Dynoflash account removed, but we allowed him to keep his Personal account. I've been following him around reading his recent posts with his personal accounts and he is STILL acting the way he did before, maybe not as bad, but he is still pushing his products with his personal account. Shiv on the other hand, when informally warned he desisted immediately and not only that, but he apologized for it as well.
Bottom line is we (the moderating team) want the best for this forum and we are constantly trying hard to please everyone. For those who spoke out and appreciate our hard work, I personally want to thank you all.

It's pretty obvious to alot of folks that SHIV DOES slide with his actions. If it was one person or two who say it thats one thing, but alot of folks say it and in this world perception is a BIG deal.
IMO moderators can learn from nasioc.com, probably one of the better moderated marque boards, even though it may be somewhat protofascist at times.
No foul language, no comments about *****-slapping, no pornographic avatars, immediate halt to flamewars by removing people from the board w/o warning (remember logical consequences) may be a start. At the same time, remember that a functioning board is not due to the number of people in time-out, but by how many people post useful stuff.
Tolerance obviously is obviously fraught with difficulties with the fast and furious. Yes, it is part of the likeable character of the car, but it is also a pain to sift through the inflammatory garbage that does get posted on this board.

Members, start using the "Report this post to a moderator" function instead of complaining in the thread: "Why don't the mods close this thread down, they are not doing their jobs." Report the thread and don't add to the trash. It is not reasonable nor can we be expected to monitor every thread all the time. Help us out a bit by doing this.

Yes people, please use the "report this post to a moderator" button. In the time that I have been a mod, I have not gotten a single notification of a post being reported. I don't read every single thread in the 6 forums I moderate, so it would be helpful to get notifications of any useless crap that needs to be removed. Thanks
