Mark ~ I don't know if this would be possible or not, but I'm frequently noticing
  • lots of visitors to the site
  • frequent complaints about the server being too busy
Does VBulletin have any way to give members preference over non-members when it comes to browsing EvoM? It makes sense, at least to me, that a member, who has taken the time to register and contribute, shouldn't be waiting while a curiousity-seeker is able to browse freely.

Mark actually looked into this recently.

But it doesn't seem that it will really make any noticeable difference. The fact is this site is seeing about 9x the number of hits per day as it did this time last year. A growth spurt like that won't be without growing pains. Bear with us though. Mark is working to find a solution.

SC~

the problem could be the main page, because there is many MySQL Queries..

Page generated in 2.24646211 seconds (18.08% PHP - 81.92% MySQL) with 16 queries.

2.24 seconds is a long time on the internet

Now take that times a a few hundred people...the CPU cannot handle the amount of queries

But me running my own vbulletin board, know how vbulletin works. there are limits... but you don't want your board to take 100 % cpu, because then you cannot connect to it....

I have a suggestion to offer to mark, and i'll see what he thinks.

There's a lot of queries to pull info from the forums like the posts, classifieds, then there's the news, features, etc. I'm going to redo that page later to lower the query total.

We've also added some memory to the current server for the time being. I'm looking into a new setup for the future.

Awesome Mark Definitely appreciate all the work you put into my internet playground. Um, I think I'm supposed to tell you to 'shake the haters,' too, you do a damn good job with this site, considering it's something in addition to your career.
