Not sure if the forum can do this, but it would be nice if a person wantd to list something, and got to choose if it went into Evo, Lancer, Misc, or both Evo and Lancer. So that would mean 3 categories: Evo, Lancer, and Misc. And at the very least allow duplicate postings of items that fit both Evo and Lancer.

If that still doesn't sound good, at least split the car items from the misc video games/toys/etc.

 

The problem with cross-listing is that it'd have to be a redirect in one forum. Otherwise you run into the problem of people posting bids, questions and whatnot in two different places and the one being completely unaware of the other. On top of that, a less-than-savvy seller may not realize what (s)he's doing and place it in forums it does not belong in. And then finally, I'm sure there will be people who post their for sales (regardless of content) in all forums for exposure.

 

It would be nice if "cars for sale" were an entity to itself to make it easier to keep up with who's selling what car. Regardless of what other changes may or may not be made I think cars for sale should be split out.

 

I suggest the following breakdown. How many times have you clicked on a thread that says "Amazing new taillights for Evo/Lancer", and the post says "Oh yeah, I want a set."?

The general is for stuff like Xbox games, anything that's not related to our cars.

Are there any plans for making some improvements to the "private for sale / wtb" section? If anything, at least consider separating misc. items such as video games, computers, etc.

How about at least a separate ICE section? There should be a few suitable general categories that would divide things and make it easier to keep up with what's available as well as to avoid certain areas of no interest.

Someone with a brand new RA Sportback, like me, who wants a CD changer could check ICE and have a much easier time.

The same could work for Wheels/Tires as a category. It would at least get people to the category of item they want expeditiously.

Mods, how about a little categorizing? Please and thank you.

 

General categories, anyone? Am I mistaken in thinking it would be simpler to find things if there were a "cars for sale" "wheels/tires" "in car entertainment" etc. categorization and then an "everything else" for what doesn't fit the predefined categories?

 

That may be happening...maybe not that many forums, but at least cars for sale, car parts for sale, everything else. I'll double check with el queso grande.

 

Another suggestion in the meantime is to ask everyone who is posting in private for sale to include (e.g. in brackets) the vehicle the part is intended for, e.g.

FS: [EVO] AEM intake
WTB: [EVO] Shifter bushings

 

Agreed wholeheartedly, ez. The problem is it's easier to make forums than it is to tell 15,000+ people how to make a thread title. Trust me, they won't listen. The site migration to new servers is taking up all of Mark's time right now, but I suspect we will start to see a lot of changes once the site is moved and once he's ironed out any issues that may come with it.
