Why can't I delete my own post?

I wanted to post something in show and shine but I accidently post in a thread that had nothing to do with that? why can't i delete my own post

it would cause to much drama, instead just report the post and a moderator will take care of it for you.

Or possibly delete your post if no one has replied yet. I'm sure the logistics of that are prohibitive, though.

We had repeatedly run into issues where people would start threads, get insulted, then delete there original post, making the thread utterly useless in most cases. If you find this happen to you (the general you, not Evo542 specifically) please report the post and let the staff know what happened. We'd be more than happy to take care of the thread or post for you as quickly as we are able (which is usually pretty damn quickly. )

That's definitely not going to happen. The other people who post in the thread are less than likely to appreciate your deleting their comments. This could very easily lead to abuse as well, and could cause the loss of valuable information and/or valid viewpoints.
