Time to wave the BS flag
Time to wave the BS flag
Before you delete my post, consider this feedback. I would really like to know the answers to these questions from Mark (KK):
1. Why must every post be scrutinized in a different manner with regard to what is consider flaming or not? I am referring to a very obvious case of preferential treatment.
2. Why do activities from a different Evo board impact activities here? While EvoM is one of the biggest sites, it's not the only site. For adverse actions to take place here because of an advertiser on another Evo board or comments on another Evo board smacks of a monopolistic attitude. Not making enough money already from your advertisers?
3. Why does ANY critical statement get deleted almost immediately? Want examples of other "regimes" that operate that way? Communist China, Cuba, the former Soviet Union, etc. etc. I am not referring to outright insults, but true, supported criticism that gets suppressed. What are you afraid of? EvoM members will still come to the site and might actually learn something.
I don't expect this post to last long, but I hope you give it a chance. I am 100% certain there are many others on this board that feel likewise.
Chris
P.S. Please don't PM me with warnings, etc. If you have something to say or contribute, please post it here.

I hear that, but its not often my posts get deleted anymore. Sometimes the most helpful comments are ones that are criticism and that should be able to stay. Just put a pg-13 picture on the front page and we're set.

This is not a regime, this is a website. They are two entirely different entities and levels of seriousness. There are completely different rules/punishment regarding the 2. One is your life, the other is a measly warning or banning from an internet site. They can not be metaphorized to prove a point.
I'm not sure what you are referring to exactly in your original post in this thread. You are beating around the bush. But I can see that you are angry.
Perhaps you could be more specific, in this thread, or via pm? I'll be happy to see if I can get to the bottom of it...or at least give addtl info.

I think we all know what he means. These are very good questions that I for one would like to see answered. I still come to this site despite the fact that there are obvious jerks that call themselves members and despite the fact that S#itsubishi watches this site.
Chris,
I'll try my best to answer each question:
1. This sounds like a concern about obvious preferential treatment. The members on the site do not receive any special treatment and have to abide by the same rules. If you feel someone is acting up you can report the post or contact a moderator of the forum to handle the issue. Sometimes people see things in a different light. Offering your opinion on the matter can help offer another point of view.
2. If an activity on another board causes an issue on this board then it does play a factor, otherwise it's fine.
3. The main goal when removing offending posts is to prevent a flame war or thread hijacking. Not everyone will agree with the decisions made, but the moderators make them in the best interests of the discussion at hand. We're also trying a lot harder to communicate our actions to the people involved. Members can also contact a moderator to discuss any issues if they like.
I think we do a great job of listening to people's concerns. We can’t please everyone, but we don't flame someone for seeing things in a different light.

1. I have reported posts and have been rebuffed. I've been told that the offending individuals did nothing wrong, when in fact THEY instigated most of the nonsense. More good posts have been completely closed because of a couple people than I can count.
2. If the aforementioned activity never makes it into this forum, I don't see how it affects this forum. A lot of verbal activity occurs outside of this site that is much more detrimental to a lot of people than what occurs here. How are you going to corral that? My point is that unless someone were to quote something from another site (NASIOC, ***************, a local/regional site, etc.) that is completely inflammatory to EvoM, I don't see how exerting pressure on that site is justified.
3. While I understand many posts are omitted for cause, there needs to be a balance. To be preferential in determining whose posts are deleted will alienate more of the members even further than they already are.
Note to Secret Chimp - I didn't say this was a regime, hence my quotation marks, indicating this board is run like a regime. I remember when you were much more balanced with your decision-making, even making suggestions on how to avoid a warning or keep a thread open. I don't know what changed. (Well maybe I do, but I don't want my thread deleted...)
Note to Mark - When I was about to delete my account, we discussed how to keep the forum lively and balanced. At first, I noticed a positive change, however when certain individuals maintain a "teflon" ability to post unchecked, those of us subject to the rules of the forum are inclined to get perturbed at the subjectivity of their application. Please take note that many of us can see between the lines (or the dollar signs, however the case may be).
I enjoy this forum because it gives me a place to exchange ideas with other Evo enthusiasts as well as find out about new products on the market. I resent this forum because many times those exchanges end up closed because of personality conflicts.
I won't bring this up again, but I'd appreciate it if this thread were to remain open.

I consider you a friend of mine. If you want to talk, feel free to call....you know my number.

Chris is a cool dude and would hate to see him leave"again". The first time was when he left Cali ofcourse. Evom, the formerly "LancerForums.com" changed alot over the years. It went from being laxed and carefree board to an actual full fledged forum. The number of members on this site quadrupled so I can imagine how hard it must be to keep everything in check. With every problem a positve change can be the end result that makes the site better. Hopefully issues can be resolved between the two parties."Teflon" as in "Teflon Don" or the actual material?

Please understand that we don't automaticaly delete and edit based upon a persons request each and every time. We try our best to assess each situation the very best way we can. It's just that sometimes it ends in an action, and other times it does not. But it does prompt us to take a look. And we do make a sincere attempt to correct things.
We totally appreciate every 'report this thread' request that we get. And I, for one, hope you will continue to report threads as you see em.

SC - his issue doesn't seem to be with the seriousness of the consideration but more about the outcome. It just seems that he feels that decisions are not being come to fairly and the problem people are being allowed to continue. But maybe that's just my interpretation.
