Moving Threads & an idea

Hey guys.

Good job with the site, but I have a suggestion or two.

1. When a topic is moved, it would be really great if you PMed the person who started it with the new location and why it was moved. This would help that person better understand where to post what information.

2. The Show and Shine could use some subtopics. I think it would really help navigating some of the great information there.

Exterior (already in place per color) Official "X" Picture Thread

New:
Interior
Wheels / Tires / Brakes / Suspension
Engine / Exhaust / Mechanical
General (for polls, opinions, etc....)

Or just put pics of the specific items in the threads that are already in place in a subtopic called Pictures. If looking for tire & wheel info, you will find tire and wheel info with pics in a dedicated "Pictures" thread instead of having to dig through the general show & shine for what you are looking for.

3. Group Buy information

I just caught the tail end of a group buy in the EVO forum for interior Ralli///Art kits. They should fit all lancers, not just the EVO. I really would have liked to get in on that, I think others would have as well. I also missed out on some pedals that would have been nice to know about.

If there are GBs that would fit any lancer, it would be cool to put a general link to the information somewhere on the boards.

Thanks.

1. You can simply search under your name for the threads that have been moved. Easy as that.

2. We're fine with the setup we have now. More sub-forums equals to more confusion. I still remember the problem we had with sub-forums. Members didn't like the fact that they had to keep on clicking and clicking to get to the right forum to post in. So we're trying to avoid that. I don't see the significant need to put more sub-forums up there in S&S.

3. I'm sure a simple browse around the forums and different general areas should solve that problem real quick. I see where your coming from though, but, looking wouldn't hurt either. If you missed out on anything, then, thats on you.

Regarding number 1...it was my impression that Moderators should be letting people know when they move threads....I always do. I also let them know why I moved it.

If you just move it, and don't let the person know what they did wrong, they will just make the same mistake again....

The repeated mistakes from a person who is never informed about what he is doing wrong will take more time to deal with than sending a quick 2 line pm with each thread move.

Yeah, I've moved a few recently and forgotten to send notifications. If you're speaking of any of the ones I moved (prolly about a dozen) then I am sorry. Sorta slipped my mind.

This is all my personal feeling but....Generally speaking GB's can go in the private wanted/for sale forum with a link or temporary sticky (done by a staff member of course) in the appropriate car forum(s). If users never notify us it's unlikely this will happen. A group buy from a forum vendor also is something we'd be more than happy to highlight for everyone, but, as we have no control over vendors who are not registered on EvoM, please don't take it personally if these are not promoted as heavily.

In regard to breaking down Show and Shine...well....I wouldn't want to see it happen. Subforums tend to be ignored, and on the staff's side it will cause a lot of threads to be moved as well as several mass moves just to populate the new subforums if they're created. Some people just don't seem to give a **** where they post, and adding more subforums will only make this more aggrevating for staff here.

Thanks for the feedback

I'm actually hoping there will be a notification for when something is moved. That way you are notified and it doesn't take 5 minutes to write something up, etc. It seems like a trivial task, but when you multiply it by several threads per day, it becomes difficult to manage.

Mark. 5 minutes!? I think your pc is plugged into the wrong socket in the wall. Undo that phone wire thingy and plug back in the RG6 cable....huhu. :P

Automatic notification would be great though!
