Misunderstanding there. The insurance companies use a numbering system to rate a car as being cheaper to insure or more expensive to insure. This is governed by the Texas Insurance council or some other silly government organization. The symbols are based on cost to fix, number of accidents, etc. Corvettes, Evo's, Mustangs etc will have a high number >20. Lancers, Corrollas, Neons, etc will have a low number. When I first got the car insured it was rated as a symbol 10. Most likely because it was a new car, no histoical data, whatever. They have now raised it to a 21 because they have started to recieve data on the car.

My insurance should be a little cheaper but I have only held a US driver's licens for 4 years or so and they don't like that for some reason.
This also has to do with the freuency that the insurance company updates thier files with the latest info from the Texas Insurance agency. You might also have gotten in after the update took effect.

It is weird that they dont like your overseas license though but they will use any excuse to raise rates. I worked abroad for 3 years and when I came back they were going to put me in the highest risk group even though I was in the lowest risk group before leaving.
