SCCA Autocross this weekend (Jan 5 2003)
Hey all,
There is an SCCA autocross this weekend (Jan 5 2003) at Gulf Greyhound park just south of Houston. It would be nice to see some lancers (or maybe an Audi TT) at these events.
I will be racing my Galant VR-4.
Let me know if you'd like to meet up.

I am going to try and make it out there. I have to check my PDA (my wife) first to make sure my schedule is open. Come to think of it, my in-laws may be in town. Maybe I can convince my father-in-law to go, he might enjoy it. Do you have any details as far as a schedule of the event?

Here is a link to the run order for the first several events.
I am running in Street Modified (SM) so I will be there in the afternoon.

Tear,
Thanx for the info. I am definitely going to try and make it as a spectator. I have never been to an event like this before but am interested in getting started. Hopefully I will get to go and pick up some info as well.

Well I get 4 runs, and if people want they can ride along with me. If you can bring a helmet if you want a ride as I only have one. There are loaners there though if needed usually. Since I run first though, you will have to come find me, as I won't have time to seek others out. I probably will be the only galant there though.

In a few events from now I will have a lancer there
In fact I am only running Street Mod, to try and get some points before switching cars, since the Evo and Galant are in different stock classes. I'll just run the EVO in SM (while stock) since its a pretty weak class here. Im also covered if I mod it this year.
Anyway I will hope to see you guys there. Its too bad this kind of event doesn't get a bigger turnout. In the times I have been there I have never seen a Lancer.

Tear,
I am definitely going to try and be there. As for a helmet, does it have to be full faced or will any DOT approved helmet work?
I am a little surprised that there aren't any others there with a lancer. Hopefully I will enjoy the experience and be able to compete either later this year or next year with my next car purhase (hopefully EVO, but keeping options open.)

I think on the site it says that am drivers should be there to register between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. so the event should start a little after that I guess. For the pm it says drivers need to register between 12:00 and 1:00.

Yes those are the correct times. I'll be there just a bit before noon, maybe a little earlier to see some other cars.
As for the helmet, just about any motorcycle type helmet would work, either open or closed face.

alive,
you should have made it out to the AutoX last weekend. It was pretty cool. I did not enter my lancer. I am going to try and enter it next time they have it which will be February 2nd. I am going to try and enter it into a class that runs in the morning because I have a birthday party for my niece in the afternoon. I think TearItUp will be there in the afternoon though. I got to ride with him on one of his runs. Total blast. I think that the lancer in the right hands (probably not mine) could be somewhat competitive. I am also going to try and get my wife into it. After all the lancer is her car. I had to trade vehicles with her last summer in order for her to give me the okay on the Evo. Sacrifices, sacrifices. By the way I listened to your post on the rrm muffler. Sounded pretty nice. I will probably talk my wife into getting that for the lancer. Either that or I will buy it for her for her birthday. After all, I got here the strut bar for Christmas.
Was the muffler hard to install? And do you notice improvements in performance?
