Depends on the time and place, but I really could use a S.M.A.R.T. lecture...

If you guys want to get the tune done in Houston, let me know. I had already posted that there are two dynos in H-town (dynapak at SGP, and ?? at turbochargers.com). I will definately talk to SGP and see whats up with the cost per person based on XX amount of people. Just need some feedback from whomever is putting this together.

BTW I am not going to get tuned either way, but will definately meet up with everyone if the event is in Houston. Got quite a few other evos here that would meet up as well.

No longer really than a strap on type (in my opinion). SGP uses two guys to setup the car, o2, map, etc.... Usually around 25 minutes give or take.

No DynaPacks. They are fine for simply tuning a car, but I KNOW that Shiv will not mess with then due to the time it takes to get cars set up on them. I am not trying to be rude at all, I just know how Shiv feels about them and that he does not want to mess with them. Look in to turbochargers.com, but they had a dyno day there two years ago and a couple of people did get sick off of the fumes. If the ventalation is better then it might be a possibility, we will have to see if Vishnu has any input on this. I have not heard back from Calvin yet on prices and time, but I will try to contact them again today.

I can understand that nobody wants to wait when it comes to tune/tuning time. The last time I went to a full day dyno tune, I had to wait for quite awhile before I could get on the dyno. This was at FIS last December. The only good thing about the wait was that Mark would go for a 'street' test to make sure everything was good. The 'street' test lasted about as long as it took to get then next car on the dyno. The down time (20 minutes) it took to get the car off of the dyno, Mark was usually bombarded with questions, but it was supposed to be for breaks.

In any case, if Shiv doesn't want to mess with a dynapak, then no problem. I was just trying to help out in a meet spot. Good luck with the Xede tunes, and s.m.a.r.t. information.

Everyone really knows that if you want power anyway, you need a UTEC! (just kidding)

I emailed the guys in Houston at turbochargers.com about the possibility and it turns out that they recently sold to a diffrent company, I emailed the new guy and he wants to talk it over with me on the phone. Let me know what I should ask and get covered so I can answer any questions you guys might have about the new place in Houston.

Thanks

Dyno

The dyno at turbochargers.com is a low reading and old Dynojet. The dyno is in a metal building with no A/C and no stellar provision for exhaust fumes. Needless to say it could use some work. That facility is less than ideal and I don't think Shiv would like to return there. Shiv likes to take a test drive after a tune and I would think the set-up time on the Dynopack might be acceptable. I do hope so because I will not return to Turbochargers.com and I would really like to get Shiv to work on my car. Has someone discussed this with SGP or Shiv for that matter?

Well as to the problem with Turbochargers.com I talked with the new ownership and they say they have since added a rear bay door which has since cleared their fumes problem. Granted I am from Brownsville which is 5 hours away from Houston so I really cant verify in person, but Nick, the new owner does want to work with us so that is a possibility, however I dont know if the Dallas guys would even want to come to Houston to get tuned. Anyways I have done my part and the guy who now owns Turbochargers.com is up for it. I guess now all we can do is wait and see if ppl answer to this and spark enough intrest to even bother Shiv with this.

SO if you would come to Houston to get custom Tuned by Shiv and willing to go to Turbochargers.com let me know on here or shoot me a PM so that I can start getting numbers, we would need at least 10 and thats for 1 day thing, Not even sure what type of numbers it would take to get SHiv here, but I rather get some intrest first before going forward and contacting Shiv since we all know how busy it gets over there. Granted I can still go to dallas but thats just 3 more hours i wouldnt have to drive both over there and back, but lets see where this goes too

Dyno in Houston

I think it would be best to ask Shiv if he is interested. I am interested, but would prefer another place than Turbocharger.com. If it is the only way it will happen, I guess I will have to go with the flow. Let us know if and when....etc.

I just talked to Calvin again and he is going to try to get Shiv's attention long enough to find out when he can do it, if he has a location prfference, and the prices. Shiv is pretty busy working on a project for Mazda, so he has not had the time to answer. Calvin said that there is actually a possibility of doing it in October, but we will have to see when Shiv preffers. As soon as I get something solid I will post up with an official sign up on the Vishnu forum. Suby guys will be welcome as well from what I understand, so as soon as we get this finalized either I or someone who is on NASIOC will probably put up a post. I think that 10 tunes is the minimum, but I do not see that being a problem as soon as everything is official, I think that we have 8-9 solid persons right now.

And if turbochargers.com has improved then it might be considered, I would like a consistent reading dyno though. The one advantage to FIS would be most people have a pretty good baseline from what they have put out there before as most people interested have been on that dyno. But all options will be considered.
