Cold Weather - Evo Question

So, we got us some cold weather now!

The couple of times I've driven my car in cold weather, it seems to have this "whine" to it. Sounds like it's coming from the engine bay, and it gets much quieter as the car runs longer. I guess that's normal? Cars always act wierd in the winter.

By the way, did you Dallas-ites enjoy Fall? It was yesterday from 8:00 to 5:00.

That is odd, but the cold will do some funny things to cars. If it goes away once your car warms up, I wouldn't worry about it.

And actually I did enjoy the cold, atleast, while I'm in the car

I also noticed at slow speed when turning right, when I use the brake, it squeals a little bit.

Ok...well when you shift into third, does the wing vibrate?

Our Tech has suggested that you may want to allow your EVO to warm up for at least 10 min. before trying to operate on colder days. If that does not solve the whining issue, you may want to take it to the stealership!

Best regards,

brake pads might be cold still and squeeling a tad??

I try to warm my car up, but with my exhaust, and the time I leave for work in the mornings, I kinda have to start her up and get out of my neighborhood before I annoy everyone for 10min. So I just pull out and keep it under 3000-3500rpms until it warms up. Seems to like that approach.

Same here. I think I would annoy the neighbors if I warmed it up for 10 minutes.

My car is in the garage overnight...it doesn't get THAT cold in there. Maybe I'll ride my brakes to eliminate the squeal.

Screw my neighbors... the hatred runs deep on my street. Each time they complain at me about the loudness I take a run at one of their kids.

I used to run into that at my old apartment complex when I had my Contour SVT. Full exhaust with twin Bassani Mufflers, that sucker rumbled, and really enjoyed it's warm up time. I don't think my neighbors liked that I had to leave for work at 5:45am.

After one winter and now entering another,I have found that mine runs best after letting the temp gauge start its climb to the normal range.

yeah, happens here too. Differentials have to warm up or something. Do you have a hard time getting it in gear?
