Pontiac GTO is basically a Holden Monaro CV8, with 340hp and 6spd, and minor changes in the front end

 

I finally picked my new evo up yesterday. My impressions are no different from anybody else's so no need to bore anyone, but here is a pic of the beautiful black with tint.

Hopefully I'll be able to take some pictures with better lighting soon.

The only real issue I have is that it is really hard to keep it under 90 on the Interstate. Driving back from Dallas was fun, but I would have been dead without the radar detector. It is also really hard to get the tires to break loose.

 

Mmmm, looks good. Was it tinted from the dealership or did you get it done locally?

 

It was tinted at Alta Mere (sp?) in North Richland Hills up by Fort Worth. Would have tinted it locally -- don't know where -- but I had to get the tint as part of the deal.

It's fresh so I can't roll down the windows until Tuesday, but it hasn't turned purple yet either.

 

Hope you got a warranty on that tint then.

Where in Austin are you? I've crossed paths with a black Evo twice now up in Cedar Park. I'm assuming it's not you since I saw it yesterday morning and sometime late last week... and you just got your car yesterday.

 

Yeah. I got the lifetime warranty. I hope I never have to drive up there to use it -- though I could coincide it with one of the free for lifetime oil changes that the dealer is giving.

I live off of Duval up north between 183 and Mopac. I'm sure that wasn't me. I don't make it to Cedar Park too often. I work at UT. A friend of mine saw a "dirty" black Evo this weekend.

I've seen your's on the way to a soccer game. I also saw a white one parked at the art store on 5th street west of Lamar. Was that yours? The only other one I've seen is a yellow Evo that lives at the end of Duval in the apt complex across the street from Mesa Verde.

 

That wasn't me at the art store. I don't make it downtown that often, other than for soccer practice at UT. Good to hear there's a few of them sneaking around town.

I think I saw you two or three friday's back. I was going out with a friend of mine and a white evo 8 was on 183 by 620 near lakeline mall. I told my friend "HOLD ON! I gotta see that car!" and I blazed thru traffic to get up next to you for a brief sec before traffic seperated us. :\ That was me in the YELLOW Oz!! hehe

Hey all, another austin EVO here (silver) picked mine up last night when I finally got a good bid on my type-R for trade in. So far I just can't stand staying under 3500 until 600 miles...I think i'm going to drive 550 miles tonight , tell me it's worth the wait? Hope to see you guys around, I posted somewhere else on the boards about seeing iodine's care at Spokes last weekend ( i think ) was that your first time? How was it?

 

Yeah, I ran the AutoX last weekend. I had good times if you discount me killing a lot of cones. I also had a good time doing it and will probably continue to go to their events in the future.

You only have to keep the car under 5k, not 3.5k. That should give you some room to play. 3k-5k is pretty fun.

Congrats on the car. Which dealership did you get yours from? I saw a silver one at Maxwell last weekend whenI was buying an oil filter from their parts department.

 

From Maxwell, the guy I know at Acura know's someone over there or something. Fairly easy process after I got the right bid on my car. Silver no sunroof, hey let me know if you are looking for parts ever. I could hook up a fellow evo owner in the ATX area.
