Evo IX Flash options in Central Texas??

I've been looking in to get a Flash w/dyno tuning after I get some parts for my IX. I want to know what places in texas do flashes and dynotuning and pricing. I go to Austin about once a month and a called MZM but the price there ECUTEK tune at $895, that seems insane to me since any other vendor in the country i've read about price there ECUTEK flash/tune at $650-700. I would like to know what other options I have in Texas (Dallas, Austin, San Antonio area).

Did you tell them their price is insane?

You need to just wait until either Mark from TT or Al from Dynoflash come into the area.

That price includes a custom dyno tune on a Mustang Dyno

^^ yeah.. that $650 is usually a tune on the ol' butt dyno only... The extra 150-200 is dyno time, the way I look at it...

There isn't anybody in SA that I know of.. I could be wrong... I guess if you're looking for a $650 job, you may want to wait until TT or Al swoop back thru TX..

But if it were me, I'd pony up the extra WHOPPING 200 bucks and get a tune on a real dyno... Or hell, just do a mail in flash for 300 bucks if you're on a budget.. Only problem with that is your car will be out of comission for a few days...

MZM is the only option locally. Though the initial investment may be a bit more, I think you'll be very happy with the outcome. The other nice thing is you have someone local to change your tune when you add parts and their cost to do that is very similar to everyone elses last time I checked.

Last TT day, Mark was charging his usual rate plus to Alamo $50 for a dyno tune AND if the car needed more fine tuning for the road he took it around the block for some road tuning too. Now that's a good tuner.

I have 2 friends that got a tune from MZM on their Evos. Both tunes where not that impressive. Heck, the one friend lost power after his tune. He was going from TT mail-in flash to Power FC. When Mark retuned it, he gained over 40whp from what it was at with the previous tune.

Get a mail in flash if you can't wait for them (Mark or Al) to come back. If you call in advance and fedex, you'll be down for 3-4 days.

I am in the process of getting Mark of Turbotrix to come down for a tuning day.... maybe you will be interested in that..... no dyno though, just a custom street tune.

Here is the thread if you are interested...

There are people running low 12s with the MZM flash, an exhaust and MBC on 93 octane. I don't think that is too bad. They post on here and you can ask them yourself.

Yea, that's why whenever possible, the traveling tuners all try to get a dyno.

Edit to add if you don't believe me, go do some research and see what Dave Buschur says about tuning on his MD versus the street, no comparison.

So was that 40whp gain on the same dyno?

I would stay away from the mail in flashes. They really dont do much for your car seeing how I pulled a 04 evo with turbo back, intake , Cams and a DynoFlash reflash .. You can ask Milo about it he was watching the race from behind...

I have to disagree with that.

IMHO a dyno tune and then a street tune afterwards would yeild the best result .

Sounds like one of the best evo tuners in the world agrees with you

+1 For getting TT to tune your car. Mark can make impressive reliable hp from your car, and you won't have to worry about the potential mzm screwjob.

Goodluck with whatever you do, and I hope you enjoy your flashed IX.

MZM screwjobs , WTF???

Is it me or do you have some personal vendetta against MZM? From what ive heard you where a happy costumer when you left and then all of a sudden you say that there work is ****. I mean come on you only got some gauges put in. Then you got walked by a "MZM screwjob" STi. Maybe if you would have gotten a tune your car wouldnt be running like trash.

But once you get your car up and running im sure some of these so called "MZM screwjob" cammed EVO's would love to give you a run. So its time to put up or shut up..
