DFW road rally this weekend
Who all is going? What time are we meeting at Don Herring/ Suby of Dallas? I am going to be the copilot for Kelly. Don't forget y'all need copilots.
oh, hahah i had to go back and read it.
ok so i still don't get it. is this like a full speed rally? or is this like go slow on public streets type of rally? i suspect a 3 hour drive around dallas means that the roads will not be closed off for a race.

Naw it's what those in the rally business apparently call a "gimmick rally". Points are score by finding answers along the course like a scavenger hunt.

They do work. That is complete speculation, of course.

For those who are interested, there is more information at the link below.
Here are some of the highlights that I copied from the sight:
Entry fee: $25 per car for those who pre-register, and $30 “at the door”. This fee includes 2 free tickets to the SCCA road races for Saturday and Sunday at TMS. Lunch will be provided by Subaru of Dallas at their tent in the south paddock area. Rallyists may attend the worker party at 6pm for a free dinner and fellowship with Texas Region SCCA members. I heard at the Board meeting the other night that the live music for the worker party is provided by Blue Oyster Cult, for anyone who remembers them from the 70's.
This event will be a fun rally from Subaru of Dallas to Texas Motor Speedway, for the SCCA Sunburn® Grand Prix Road Races. It is a non-speed event that any driver and passenger can participate in. You follow a set of directions, maintaining specific legal speeds between points and normally you get a ticket punched at each check point along the way. In most rally's of this type (TSD or Gimmick), there is more of a penalty for finishing early, than finishing after your planned time. Though realistically, it is difficult to finish early.
Event time: Saturday, May 6th; rally registration 8:30am, first car out 9:30am. The rally will start at the Subaru of Dallas dealership at 5403 Lemmon, Dallas (south of Inwood). You will need a driver, co-driver, something to write on (clipboard or something similar), and a pencil. No rally experience is required.
It may be a good idea to meet at the Don Herring Irving store at 8:00am and let the Evo contingent make a grand entry into the Subaru dealership.
The end of the rally course will be in the parking lot of the Texas Motor Speedway Souvenir shop at the track in Fort Worth. Instructions will direct you from there to parking inside the track.
