Autocross Test & Tune - Dallas, Aug 13
There will be an Autocross Test & Tune on Sunday, Aug 13 at the Texas Motor Speedway Bus Lot. Texas Region SCCA is hosting the event which will cost $40 per person to permit recoup of the TMS lot fees ($1600) with 40 attendees. Max number of attendees will be 50. The first car out will be 9:00am and you can run as much as you want to get that precious seat time or do as much testing as you desire with various suspension changes. The cones and course will be setup by the attendees beginning around 7am. If there is a particular type of turn, slalom, etc. that you want to practice, show up early and help work it into the course setup. Many national-level autocrossers will be on hand doing their own testing, so it's a great opportunity to ask for tips and try some different setups.
I spoke with the SCCA folks last night who are running the event. The deadline for registration is Tuesday night, Aug 8. The event is open to everyone as of today and preference is no longer being given to those competing at Nationals. Here's the link to register:

Click on the "Test & Tune" link in the center of the page. Hope to see a bunch of Evo-friendly folks out there.
It's not necessary to be driving an Evo. For those who are interested, this is the closest thing we have locally to the surface to be used at the 2006 SCCA National Championship.
Cheers,
Mark

Has anyone else had problems registering?
It says membership is not required, but it won't let you continue unless the membership number, club, class, etc. is provided.
I don't mind joining, but thought it would be easier to hand in the application papers at the event to show without a doubt that I have paid my dues etc.

I just sent an email to the SCCA folks to have this checked out. You are correct that the registration was setup for SCCA members and needs to be changed to permit non-members to register. I'll let you know here when it is fixed.

UPDATE FROM SCCA:
The test and tune event this Sunday is now open to non-SCCA members. Please pre-register online - it will be very difficult to manage walk-up registration at this event. http://autocross.com/tr/calendar.shtml
If you are already registered or are thinking about registering please understand that if we don't get the 50 people to attend the entry fee will be adjusted accordingly to cover our costs. If we have to increase the entry fee, the amount above $40 will be collected at the event.
There are currently 25 people signed up. Registration will stay open until Saturday Aug 12th at 11:00 pm. I've included a price breakdown below to help you decide if you'd like to participate.
30 people = $61 each
35 people = $54 each
40 people = $48 each
45 people = $44 each
50 people = $40 each
Matt
